Re: Cornell-Harvard (SUCKS) Score updates - 21 years ago
Cornell mounts a furious attack in the last couple of minutes of period 2 and scores twice. Harvard dominating on special teams. Both of their goals scored on the PP. They have shut down the Cornell PP. Cornell is having trouble getting set up in the offensive zone. Cornell scores all 5 goals at even strength!!!!by cmoberg - Hockey

All best slapshot from a defensemen - 21 years ago
I believe Murray is the best all around defensemen in Cornell history, but Peter Shier had the best slap shot. Chris '79by cmoberg - Hockey
Re: Where else to stay - 21 years ago
I am also an out of towner, but we (Beth and I) have taken advantage of the Holiday Inn's two for one deal in the past. Their nightly is normally around $120 but with the stay one night, get the second free it brings it down to a reasonable $60/night The rate is not available year round, but the promo seems to run during the late fall/early winter. In the years I lived in Ithaca (75-85), I never dined at the Coddington Restaurant. However, in the past few years, each visit to Ithaca includes a stop at "Angelina Centini's Italian Ristorante" Great food and a nice atmosphere (especially the outside dining)) Chrisby cmoberg - Hockey
Re: How will new CIT pricing effect this site? - 21 years ago
DeltaOne81, I agree that it should be cheaper for CIT to install the basic infrastructure. However, bringing network infrastructure to old buildings is not without challenge. As I recall most of west campus res life buildings lack raceways which suggest higher cost than a typical new office building. Also, from what I remember of the various campus wiring projects during my tenure at CCS, theby cmoberg - Hockey
Re: How will new CIT pricing effect this site? - 21 years ago
You do realize that the fixed price base service currently costs $45/month for ResNet, right? No, I did not. Things have changed since my time in the dorms. However, that charge is on par with a DSL or Cable connection in my local market. And like DSL/Cable there should be a level of performance comittment with the service. Chrisby cmoberg - Hockey
Re: How will new CIT pricing effect this site? - 21 years ago
As a former employee of CCS (Cornell Computing Services, what CIT was known as when I worked there) I have a different bent on this situation. Back then, the department existed as something of an GL hybrid, part overhead and part revenue. One element of the latter, was leased line rental. This consisted of 300 and 1200 baud (am I dating myself) direct connections to the mainframe at Langmuirby cmoberg - Hockey
Re: At Dartmouth Tickets - 21 years ago
Robb, I bought 2 tickets to the UVM game 10 days ago from the UVM ticket office (via telephone). From what I understand, they do not offer reserved seating on an individual game basis, but you can purchase advance general admission tickets. Chrisby cmoberg - Hockey
Re: Andy Noel - 21 years ago
Ah, lunch time and the talk of hot trucks brings back the memory of the West Campus Truck (Johnny's Big Red) Is the electrical hookup still there?? Nothing quite like a TMBC at 1 in the morning. I lived in U-Hall 5 my freshman year (75) and I was an RA in McFaddin in 77. Never really got into the Louies lunch thing on N. Campus (lived in High Rise 5 in 76) Chrisby cmoberg - Hockey
Re: sun article - 21 years ago
You bet (or at least it was not strongly discouraged or policed). In the late 70s (my student years) it was common practice to throw fish and tie a chicken to the Harvard Goal. Chrisby cmoberg - Hockey
Re: B.U. tickets - 21 years ago
Sully, As of yesterday, BU was selling tickets (from their visitor allotment). I Dont know how many are left today but you might want to consider that option. Chrisby cmoberg - Hockey
Re: New eLF Feature (make that Features) - 21 years ago
Understood. But in the case where there are no children, it seems reasonable to allow the author to delete the thread (single root node). But the better answer is to not allow the double post in the first place.by cmoberg - Hockey
Re: New eLF Feature (make that Features) - 21 years ago
That is the conclusion that I came to. I have asked Age to remove the second post. This situation brings to mind an area for functional improvement. Starting a thread with a name that exactly matches an existing thread should raise a red flag. Chrisby cmoberg - Hockey
Re: New eLF Feature (make that Features) - 21 years ago
One of the things I like about vBulletin is the ease with which you can make edits to your posts. Like I need to do right now. I double posted the BU ticket info. Two threads running, with identical root content. ARGH I a quick look I could not find the tool to remove the second thread. Chrisby cmoberg - Hockey
Play LeNeveu Saturday, Underhill Sunday?? - 22 years ago
Why Cornell deviated from the winning strategy of splitting goaly duty in the playoffs has got me a bit befuddled. Underhill and LeNeveu are both very good, and it seems to be a fresh goalie for each game would be an advantage. I thought Underhill played a better game against RPI than Harvard. Could he have been somewhat fatiqued?? Chrisby cmoberg - Hockey
Re: Fan killed at NHL game - 22 years ago
Yes, a Cornell Student (Chris Black) was killed by a puck at Lynah in 76/77. I was at the game. Chrisby cmoberg - Hockey
Re: 1st round: Quinnipiac - 22 years ago
I suppose that is possible, but not probable. Maine is not as strong as they have been in past years, but Harvard played the game of their season last night. I doubt they can muster that kind of effort against anyone BUT Cornell. Chrisby cmoberg - Hockey
