Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: Riley Nash - 16 years ago
I will readily admit that I was stirring up some shit with my question, but as a fan of Cornell Hockey you cannot tell me that there is some serious breath holding at the prospect of whether he is showing up or not. His draft status changed dramatically. A first round pick has a lot of value to a WHL team. It wouldn't be a shock if Swift Current came up with a lot of money for him or a tradeby DILLIGAF - Hockey
Riley Nash - 16 years ago
What are the odds that Riley Nash wakes up one day and rightly realizes that as a development ground for the NHL Cornell is about the last place on earth that he should be as a first round draft pick? My guess is about 85%. I would think he is only using cornell as a bargaining chip with his WHL team, holding out and demanding a trade to a different team and a large contract at which time hby DILLIGAF - Hockey
Re: Big Red Article on CSTV. - 16 years ago
Dig a little. There were serious rape allegations involving members of the hockey team a couple of years ago. It was buried very well and very deep. I am not the only one out there that knows of this. Others on this forum have knowledge of it as well. Just because you don't know about it doesn't make it false.by DILLIGAF - Hockey
Re: Big Red Article on CSTV. - 16 years ago
Shafer's repeated hammering Tony about it shows a serious lack of class on Mike's part. Hike up your big boy panties and move on and stop slamming a former player.by DILLIGAF - Hockey
Re: Big Red Article on CSTV. - 16 years ago
It is amazing to me that shafer is so willing to bash Romano. OK, Romano didn't tell him the truth about going up to a game. Move on Mike. Why rake the kid over in the press? It makes you look like the bum, not Tony.by DILLIGAF - Hockey
Re: Big Red Article on CSTV. - 16 years ago
it would seem that the only one surprised was Mike???by DILLIGAF - Hockey

It has a rink, the Pope and the preists don't play though, they lend a hand (if you know what I mean) with the youth instructional program.by DILLIGAF - Hockey
Re: Voice of UNH Hockey Pays for Sex - 16 years ago
still trying to figure out the connection to Cornell? Which is worse, paying for it or just going straight to rape like some...maybe that is the connection?by DILLIGAF - Hockey
Re: New Recruit for 2008 - 16 years ago
RichH Sounds like a prototypical CU defenseman. Not really, it sounds like he might actually be able to make a pass to break the puck out of our own end. Wouldn't that be something, a d-man that can and more importantly, will actually pass the puck.by DILLIGAF - Hockey

Re: TSN Ranks Riley Nash #33 for the upcoming draft - 16 years ago
they will want him in the NHL in 2 years. Your first round pick isn't a long term project.by DILLIGAF - Hockey
Re: TSN Ranks Riley Nash #33 for the upcoming draft - 16 years ago
Might point was that edmonton isn't thrilled with his choice of going to cornell. That is true. To quote Lowe, "it's something they will look at in the near future". Do you think that there won't be pressure to play in the WHL? He is a first round draft pick. The WHL will throw a lot of money to entice him to play. Is Cornell a fast track to the NHL like North Dakota or Michigby DILLIGAF - Hockey
Re: TSN Ranks Riley Nash #33 for the upcoming draft - 16 years ago
From the blog by the Swift Current Broncos play by play announcer... Sometimes NHL teams prefer their high end picks to get used to the NHL grind by playing in the Western Hockey League or the CHL in general. The question did come up in the scrum. Lowe says he's ok with the College route but would "pick him up himself and deliver him personally to the WHL if Nash ever considered it."by DILLIGAF - Hockey
Re: TSN Ranks Riley Nash #33 for the upcoming draft - 16 years ago
DeltaOne81plrd78And since we never produce any NHL caliber fowards Nope, never. Nada. Have I missed something, is cornell considered a fast track to the NHL? I think the gophers had 3 go last year alone. What a sign of success when you have to go back to the mid to late 80's to find examples.by DILLIGAF - Hockey
Re: TSN Ranks Riley Nash #33 for the upcoming draft - 16 years ago
evilnaturedrobot What this says is that Romano and Milo didn't feel that they where going to develop at Cornell, and that is disconcerting. In this we agree.by DILLIGAF - Hockey
Re: Post-draft news on Riley - 16 years ago
redice I wonder if this is somehow tied to Brendon's knee injury. Is the injury bad enough that they would have already decided that he's not part of the 2007-08 team? I hope the answer is: "no". I'd prefer it to be a USCHO mistake.[/quote He knee injury is comparable to the injury that Duante Culpepper suffered a couple of years ago. It would surprise me greatly that the elby DILLIGAF - Hockey
Re: TSN Ranks Riley Nash #33 for the upcoming draft - 16 years ago
Nice breakdown of that. That edmonton has kept their top prospects in college as much as they have surprises me. I would have expected much more of a CHL influence. That being said, I do think you will see a lot of pressure for Nash to sign with a whl team and stay in western canada and develop in the Major Junior system. Player development at top programs in the WCHA is much differentby DILLIGAF - Hockey
Re: TSN Ranks Riley Nash #33 for the upcoming draft - 16 years ago
evilnaturedrobot[What is so disturbing about the recent two defections is that neither Milo or Romano was offered a pro contract, but instead left to join teams on the junior level. It's hard to blame a kid when he inks a deal with an NHL team, but when they leave to join other youth teams it's a vote of no confidence in the Cornell program. Signing with a OHL team is hardly "joining aby DILLIGAF - Hockey
Re: TSN Ranks Riley Nash #33 for the upcoming draft - 16 years ago
I think you are right, it will depend somewhat on who drafts him and somewhat on who his "family advisor" is. Drafted that high, he stands to get a decent Major Junior contract too, which could sway him immediately. Also, I think you are right, if he does make it to Cornell, it will not be a full 4 years. It will be a one and done or 2 and out for him. The top programs dealby DILLIGAF - Hockey
Re: TSN Ranks Riley Nash #33 for the upcoming draft - 16 years ago
If he goes that high the pressure for him to play major junior instead of cornell will be huge.by DILLIGAF - Hockey
Re: Romano will not be back next year - 17 years ago
I think you are right about the brother being the biggest hook, but it is possible that the departure could be a factor. Another even bigger factor is if the team that drafts him wants him to play somwhere else. If he is drafted high enough they could have a lot of say in where he plays next year.by DILLIGAF - Hockey
Re: Romano will not be back next year - 17 years ago
Question: Does the departure of Romano affect Riley Nash? If he is drafted as projected, is it possible that he sees the writing on the wall, so to speak, and bolts for major junior as well?by DILLIGAF - Hockey
Re: Romano will not be back next year - 17 years ago
This is a good move but also a bit of a gamble for Tony. He will get the opportunity to play two times the games but his production expectations will be very high. I would think that anything less than scoring 75+ points will be considered a bust. For a player who wants to play in the NHL, there is no better place to develop than the CHL. Good luck in London and with the US Junior Nby DILLIGAF - Hockey

Re: OT: How to choose the team captain - 17 years ago
The captains should be Sawada, Seminoff and Greening. After Scott's total lack of leadership on a disfunctional team this year, he does not deserve to be a captain. Greening should be the captain with Sawada and Seminoff wearing the A.by DILLIGAF - Hockey
Re: Milo - 17 years ago
The rape issue in no way involved Milo, it was prior to his arrival, but the involved student athletes were not disciplined and are still playing.by DILLIGAF - Hockey
Re: Milo - 17 years ago
well it couldn't be academic or discipline related or he would be ineligible for the baseball team.by DILLIGAF - Hockey
Re: Milo - 17 years ago
since the defections post is moving here, this is posted in both. The only bad thing he did was play baseball! To dismiss a solid 2 way player like this for playing a sport in his off season is moronic by schafer. But maybe in Schafer's eyes playing baseball is a lot worse than rape.by DILLIGAF - Hockey
