This brought up a few (unfortunate) memories from Scrivens's Cornell days:by sah67 - Hockey
Re: Red Hot Hockey - future of series - 10 years ago
andyw2100 I was at the game, but in the nosebleed seats. From where I sat, it sure looked like we scored to even the game on one of the second period powerplays. (I think it was the 5 on 3.) Can someone who had a better view explain what the deal was on that shot? I guess it's possible it hit the crossbar and I was so far up I couldn't hear it, but I really thought it was in and out of the net, aby sah67 - Hockey

Re: Yale 11/23 - 10 years ago
I was most impressed with the fact that the only penalty called on us was the too-many-men call. It was also nice to see our big advantage in faceoff wins.by sah67 - Hockey
Re: Momentum for Brown & Yale - 10 years ago
According to the box score, Buckles was given a Game DQ for the scuffle at the final horn, so we'll lose him for the Yale game tomorrow night. The Brown player was given only a game misconduct for face-masking, as opposed to Buckles's DQ for fighting.by sah67 - Hockey

cbuckser If the injury is significant, Ben Scrivens will get a lot of playing time. Unfortunately for Scrivens, he didn't have a whole lot of time to get into the game after replacing Quick near the end of regulation. Matt Moulson scored the deciding shootout goal on him, giving Buffalo their first home win of the season. Moulson also had two assists in regulation.by sah67 - Hockey

sah67 Moulson got his official welcome to Buffalo as he (and the rest of the top line) were benched for the last period-and-a-quarter of the Sabres' ugly 6-2 loss to Anaheim: And Moulson responds: "It's the most embarrassed I've been in my career."by sah67 - Hockey

Riley Nash also picked up his first point of the season in the same game, an assist on a Jeff Skinner goal. second point. he has a goal this season already. Re: Cornell 7 York 2 (exhib) - 10 years ago
A few notes on freshmen: I was impressed with Freschi, who appears to be a sort of Scali/Mugford/Iggulden-type defensive forward who's very strong on the forecheck, very tenacious, fast, and particularly good on the PK. Buckles was somewhat underwhelming, given the hype surrounding him, but it's only one exhibition game. Lewis and McCarron were both very solid on the blueline, and McCarronby sah67 - Hockey

Moulson responded to his demotion to the third line by scoring a PPG last night (his second of the season), but the Islanders fell to the Sabres in the shootout. Colin Greening had a nice game with two assists (including one on the OT winner), and the first was a beauty with Greening stealing the puck from the Phoenix goalie behind the net, and then dishing it into the slot for Spezza to scoreby sah67 - Hockey

sah67 Riley Nash's ice time has been declining in recent games the point where he was benched in favor of former Princeton goon, Kevin Westgarth, in Carolina's most recent game. Hopefully Riley can get back in the lineup soon. Of course, just hours after I post this, Riley is back in the lineup and scores his first goal of the season as the 'Canes are currently tied 2-2 against Phoenix.by sah67 - Hockey

kingpin248 Riley Nash makes his first NHL shootout appearance and beats Nabokov in the Hurricanes' win over the Islanders. Moulson with two assists. And the point they earned by making it to the shootout, combined with the Caps beating Winnipeg, clinches a playoff spot for the Islanders.by sah67 - Hockey
