Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: Out Of Town Scores - 21 years ago
On the bright side though, Union lost to Colgate. So if things break tomorrow like they should (Dartmouth over Brown, Cornell over Union) - Dartmouth will be back in a tie for fourth with Brown, two points ahead of Union, and with the tiebreaker in hand over Brown (Dartmouth will have the better record vs. top 4). Of course Dartmouth's road woes are well-known. They should handle RPI regardless,by Dart~Ben - Hockey
Re: Out Of Town Scores - 21 years ago
Harvard 4 - Dartmouth 1 Boucher the sieve strikes again - after playing solidly last weekend, he let in a couple early that weren't his fault and then let in some atrocious ones late, while looking shaky throughout most of the game. With tomorrow being Senior Night though, he'd be starting even if he had given up 10 tonight. Though to be fair, the offense didn't give him much support. Itby Dart~Ben - Hockey
Re: Murray's Penalty/NO GOAL - 21 years ago
Wow, and I thought UNH's fans were bitter. YOU GUYS WON 6 TO FREAKING 1 - you broke an 8 game winless streak. Quit bitching about the damn officials.by Dart~Ben - Hockey
Re: Cornell 6 Dartmouth 1 3rd period - 21 years ago
Just curious, Who got Dartmouth's lone goal? I stopped listening at 5-0. Congrats on the win. Reminds me a lot of when we beat Hahvahd 7-0 my freshman year, only this time we're on the opposite end. Hopefully we'll get revenge in Albany in the rubber match. Oh well, 7-0-1 was still a helluva streak all things considered.by Dart~Ben - Hockey
Re: take one down, pass it around, 59 teams in D-I - 21 years ago
You're thinking of Findlay, which is in the CHA.by Dart~Ben - Hockey
Re: Around D-I tonight - 21 years ago
I'm curious what you number crunchers would think about this. Use Win% instead of the RPI as a tiebreaker within the PWR so rather than having the RPI count for 1.5 comparisons, it would only count the same as the others. If all else balances out, take the team that has won more games. Seems fair to me.by Dart~Ben - Hockey
Re: Around D-I tonight - 21 years ago
I'm of the opinion that all a team can do is win the games on the schedule. Yes, I believe a 25-9 MAAC team is more tournament worthy than a 19-15 WCHA team, especially if that 19-15 WCHA team is only .500 and about 5th place in conference play. I also believe non-conference SoS is more important than overall. You can control your non-conference SoS to some extent, you have no control over your cby Dart~Ben - Hockey
Re: RULE ? - 21 years ago
Fred, the picture of LeNeveu with the skate on the line is before the shot. The one where the puck has just entered the net you cannot see his skate. For all we know he slid out of the crease in those few moments. I can't tell, and there's no replay in college hockey during the regular season. I wouldn't wave off a goal like that. The ref made the right call.by Dart~Ben - Hockey
Re: RULE ? - 21 years ago
I'll just copy and paste my response from USCHO here. Doesn't matter since the goaltender was outside his crease. If the goalie isn't in his crease then you can sit in there as long as you like. Rule 6-17-c-7 c. A goal shall not be allowed in any of the following cases: 7) If any member of the attacking team (other than the player in possession of the puck) was in or skating through the goaby Dart~Ben - Hockey
Re: Why you (as a fan) should behave at a hockey game - 21 years ago
Colgate fans? Drunk? No way, wouldn't believe it in a million years. They were such great fans when they were up here in Hanover for the playoffs last year, cheering on their team using lengthy 4-letter words.by Dart~Ben - Hockey
ECAC non-conference records - 21 years ago
Cornell's NC record is 5-2 (.714) Dartmouth's is 4-2-1 (.643) The rest of the ECAC is 24-49-10 (.349) Cornell + Dartmouth = 8-4-1 vs. CCHA/WCHA/HEA (.654) The rest of the ECAC is 8-43-9 vs. CCHA/WCHA/HEA (.208) Just letting you know someone else is trying to pull the conference up. (and maybe we've found a solid netminder finally - if Yacey can repeat his performance against UHN - watch out).by Dart~Ben - Hockey
Re: [Semi-OT] Dartmouth Cuts Swimming and Diving to save $200k - 21 years ago
"But Dartmouth Deputy Director of Athletics Bob Ceplikas said Dartmouth is not the only top school suffering financially. He cited Duke and Stanford as examples, but said he could not speculate on the nature of their or other schools' difficulties." Yeah, gee. Having a $2.4B endowment turn into a $2.3B endowment sure is hurting financially. Man, I don't know how any college could afforby Dart~Ben - Hockey
Re: Dartmouth beats BC - 21 years ago
I was not there (1 month and counting til I'm back on campus), but even the BC radio guys were saying that was one of the worst goals that they've ever seen a goaltender allow. Case in point - the famous Boucher incident a few years ago at Lynah. Say he had stopped 29 of 30 shots up to that point - would you still have given him a star after allowing a goal while attempting to taunt the studenby Dart~Ben - Hockey
Re: Dartmouth beats BC - 21 years ago
Boucher may have stopped 36 of 40 shots, but after the first one he let in, no way was he a star of the game - you don't let a soft dump in from the neutral zone hop your stick for one of the worst goals ever and finish as a star of the game.by Dart~Ben - Hockey

Damn straight. If only Dartmouth can figure out how to win on the road...by Dart~Ben - Hockey
Re: DaRTmouTH sUcKs - 21 years ago
If Dartmouth "sucks", does that mean you guys are "over-rated"? Just curious. I would be perfectly happy to accept the tradeoff that you guys aren't overrated and that Dartmouth doesn't suck.by Dart~Ben - Hockey
Re: cornell @ dartmouth 11/16/02 - updates - 3-1 DC 2nd Int - 21 years ago
good game all, sounds like Dartmouth got a lucky call to help them hang on, and each team dominated a period - Dartmouth the 2nd, Cornell the 3rd... Hopefully I'll see you at Lynah in Feb. - right now I'm tentatively planning on coming pending getting tickets through Dartmouth and any exams/ papers I may have due that would prevent me from going.by Dart~Ben - Hockey
Re: cornell @ dartmouth 11/16/02 - updates - 3-1 DC 2nd Int - 21 years ago
Other ECAC scores 4-1 Yale - in the 2nd? 2-0 Princeton - in the 2nd? 3-1 Dartmouth - 2nd intermission 4-0 Brown - 2nd intermission 2-1 Harvard - 2nd intermission 2-0 Vermont - in the 2nd?by Dart~Ben - Hockey
Re: cornell @ dartmouth 11/16/02 - updates - 3-1 DC 2ndP - 21 years ago
some people are probably listening to Dartmouth's broadcast, crappy though it is with student broadcasters. I would be but the cybercafe I'm at sucks and quicktime doesn't work. otherwise I'm depending on people on here and uscho to fill me in, since sports.yahoo.com doesn't provide up-to-the-minute scores.by Dart~Ben - Hockey

Who's in net for the Green? Boucher or Gastrock? (Or Yacey even?)by Dart~Ben - Hockey
Re: cornell @ dartmouth 11/16/02 - updates - 21 years ago
A) The comments made by Dartmouth's radio announcers do not represent the opinion of the rest of the student body. I say this because as a Dartmouth student, I often tuned in to the other team's radio broadcast for Dartmouth road games. Our student announcers suck. Why we use a professional for football and student's for hockey, I don't know. You have been warned, so I don't want anyone coming baby Dart~Ben - Hockey
Re: Harvard/Dartmouth - 21 years ago
Yes I know I've been quiet since seeing many of you at last year's East Regionals, but given the game coming up on Sat., though I should throw my $.02 in... Dartmouth's biggest problem thus far has been mediocre goaltending. a 4.00 GAA and .87% save percentage isn't going to cut it. The D-men are fine, with Byrne and Summerfelt leading an experienced corps. Of course throw all this out the windoby Dart~Ben - Hockey
Re: Internet Radio at Risk? - 22 years ago
I'm curious, what rates to commercial radio stations play for airwave play? Is it much higher/lower than proposed internet rates?by Dart~Ben - Hockey
Re: [NHL] I went to a hockey game... - 22 years ago
Why couldn't Boston do to Theodore what Carolina did. Arg. I goto 1 NHL playoff game on a whim (game 5 in Boston) and now I'm pissed I can't goto more this year.by Dart~Ben - Hockey
