In case anyone else has the hockey itch already...

Incoming Cornell goaltender Andy Iles will be attending the US National Junior Team Evaluation Camp from July 30-August 8 in Lake Placid. Andy is a local product, and the Big Red's highly-touted netminder of the future. If you'd like to see him play, Fasthockey.com will be carrying games from August 3-7 at 4pm each day. The games are pay-per-view, but I think you'll be able to watch some of the practice sessions for free.

Or you can travel up to Lake Placid to watch him live - depending on how advanced your hockey withdrawal has become...

In the season premiere of Mad Men, there's a scene relatively early in the episode in which Don Draper returns to his apartment and puts on the TV. After a couple commercials, it shows a college football game being played a few days before Thanksgiving. If you listen closely you hear mention of Bill Wilson (Cornell running back from the 60s), the Tigers, and the Big Red. This may have been the 1964 game referenced in this article:

This was a fun, high scoring affair. I believe the final score was 14-13. Don't recall which team won.

The white team had two number 19's. One was Jeff Watts, the goalie and I think the other was Casey Jones. Jones was not on the attached roster sheet.

Jeremy Downs had at least three goals. Joe Nieuwendyk was, well, Joe Nieuwendyk!!! He missed on a penalty shot. He did have at least one goal.

A lot of fun...A make shift band was present...And, very few fans. As usual, it was not well publicized. Too bad for that!!

Boston and Montreal may be interested in trading for Nash. Riley seems unlikely to end up with Edmonton. Note the point that whatever the Oilers receive for Nash would have to be more valuable than the 51st overall pick in the 2012 (they say 2011, but I assume it's 2012) draft, since that's what they'll receive if Nash doesn't sign with them by August 15, 2011.
