Championships fall '06?

Are there any Cornell sports expected to bring home Ivy titles during the fall of 2006?

Should Cornell expect to improve upon its nine Ivy titles from a year ago?

Amazing that Cornell won nine championships last year and hockey was not one of them.

Volleyball is supposed to be strong.

This is the "good" year schedule-wise for football, with four Ivy games at home and three on the road, but I'm guessing they're gonna miss Ryan Kuhn a whole lot. Moving the ball is the big question mark as far as I can tell.

The rest? Who knows.

Ok-- so last year we won the following eight Ivy titles:

This year we've won the following:

Do we still have a good shot on getting 9 or more titles? Will the (men's) hockey team give us at least an Ivy title?

I guess that's one title that losses to Sacred Heart, WSU, and the disappointment that was Colgate last night doesn't hurt. We're tied for first with Yale with Dartmouth a win behind and a game in hand. Looks like if we win out (v. Princeton, @ Dartmouth, @ Harvard) we would be OK for at least a split with Yale. That game with Dartmouth the final weekend could decide it.

The Cornell men's swimming and diving team continued its unbeaten regular dual match season by clinching at least a share of the Ivy League's regular season round-robin title with a 170-130 victory at Yale on Saturday. The Big Red improved to 8-0 overall by also defeating Navy 213-87 in the three-team meet.

The Ivy League championship is determined at the Eastern Intercollegiate Swimming League Championships, which will be contested at Princeton's DeNunzio Pool from Feb. 22 to Feb. 24.

The last time a team other than Harvard or Princeton won the Ivy title was Yale in 1993. At that time, the Ivy championship was determined by the final League standings. The last time a team other than Princeton or Harvard claimed the EISL Championship meet was also Yale... all the way back in 1972.

This weekend is the ECAC Championships (Cambridge, Mass.) for swimming. Every team in the ECAC had at least two dual meet losses. Cornell was the lone undefeated team.

Indoor track Heps are Feb 24-25 in NYC.

Men's Ice Hockey also has a couple key Ivy games coming up.

Wreslting is looking good so far in the dual meets.

Lets hope a few of these programs can bring in some Ivy titles.

According the the Athletics website, the women's swim team is at the Ivy Championships this weekend but the men have the EISL championships beginning Feb 22 at Princeton.

Men's swimming ends up fifth at the EISL meet. So much for the undefeated season. Indoor Heps finish today in NYC.

Women take the Indoor Heps Title. . . again.
