Joe Boulukos was picked #16 overall in the Major League Lacrosse Collegiate Draft Friday. He was the third player picked by the Chicago Machine, an expansion team in its first season, after Sean Morris (UMass) and Michael Culver (Virginia).

Chicago has its home opener Saturday afternoon. They play on the same field where Cornell played Notre Dame in March. I wouldn't expect Joe to be dressed this week, but it will be interesting to see whether the newly drafted players work their way into the lineup.

Joe Boulukos [www.chicagomachine.com] made his first appearance with the Chicago machine on Saturday [www.chicagomachine.com] and scored two goals in the team's seventh consecutive loss.

[q]...The Machine's lone bright spot of the quarter was collegiate draftee Joe Boulukos' first career Major League Lacrosse goal. Long Island put a few more goals in net and took a commanding 12-3 at halftime.

Things got moderately brighter for the Machine in the third quarter. Chicago brought in four straight goals to end the quarter, including a second goal for Boulukos and the first for rookie attackman Dan Flannery. Morris also broke into the scoring column for the night, adding two goals...[/q]

For whatever reason Joe did not play in Saturday's game. He is still listed on the roster. Earlier in the week the team had traded away another midfielder in exchange for a third round pick in the 2007 draft.

The travels of Joe Boulukos

After being activated by the Chicago Machine on Friday, June 30, Joe played in the game againt the Long Island Lizzards and scored two goals. The following Friday, July 7, he was traded to the Philadelphia Barrage, who promptly traded him to the Balimore Bayhawks. [www.baltimorebayhawks.com] He did not play for the Bayhawks the next day, July 8, and the team was idle this week, July 15.

There really seems to be a tremendous amount of movement of players in this league.

Enough with the "Boulukos gets one more goal" items. All it does is remind us: Boulukos got one less goal than we hoped for May 13 at Schoellkopf.

Okay, I vented. It's good to see him doing well.
