Princeton announced it took in $3.9 million from a one-day #TAGD, or Tiger Athletics Giving Day, Nov. 29. That's about $3,500 per athlete (1100) at Princeton.

“Giving days” are bad and I don’t participate. (Same with Prime, Black, Cyber, Small Business, Giving, and all the other “spend spend, buy buy” days of the week.)

Sorry to those in fundraising careers. Leave me alone and I’ll donate on my terms.

Oh, don't worry, as a long-time professional fundraiser I think they're bad, too.

I give a bit during Giving Days to sports and (not on the official giving list) The Daily Sun, a bit less later in the year to the Cornell Fund, overall Cornell gets a bit more. So, as regards me, things Cornell gets more than otherwise. Still nowhere near moving the needle.

The only thing this indicates is the rich need to be taxed more.

The sons of Nassau believe they're doing God's work. Their new soccer stadium did not come as a gift from on high. Interesting that it's built on an undulating area just a few minutes from Palmer (was Palmer) Stadium, whereas Cornell's field has no grade changes of note around the perimeter.

Interestingly, donor Stephen Lewinstein and son Marc, both Dartmouth grads, received their law degrees from Cornell.

Reminds me of a T-shirt I once saw: "My rich law-school students went to Dartmouth for undergrad, and all I got was this lousy commemorative bench!" demented
