I know there are bigger issues impacting Cornell, but does anyone in the administration/board of trustees care about the deterioration of Cornell athletics?

Pretty sad state of athletics.

At least the wrestling team is staying at the top of the Ivies, and finished 7th in the country in a "down" year.

The latter two are the ones that are alarming. The only thing that makes the former two unusual is we're not 7th above Columbia.CAS

We have become the "old" Columbia. Columbia recently has invested in athletics, and is on the upswing. They hired a new AD & a very successful football coach. Their basketball team finished 3rd in the Ivies, and is in he finals of a lesser postseason tourney. We are the new doormat.

O.K., we all know that Ivy League kids are there for the education.
Smart kids aren't supposed to be athletic.
Sports are a substitute for war. They promote anger and aggression and are antithetical to the Ivy precepts of intellectuality, peace, harmony and love.
If students require physical activity it should be confined to non-contact endeavors that do not promote winners over losers and reward every participant equally. In that way they can obtain the physical benefits without risking permanent bodily or psychological injury.
Repeat after me. Learning good. Recreation good. Sports very bad.
The only thing worse might be violent video games. Unless you are only writing the code?
Now,...for my next fairy tale.......

Let's not forget Harvard. They're number one where it counts. All their athletes graduate with honors.

So now you're also advocating celibacy?

Only if by celibacy you mean that Cornell can't score?!
Not exactly advocating. Just pointing out what might be somewhat obvious?
Oh, and are you sure that celibacy can't be injurious?
From personal experience, perhaps??

Maybe we should recruit the fat lady rather than wait for her aria.

You're flashing back to the beer commercial for the hockey team recruiting the world's stockiest goaltender who truly filled the space between the pipes.marty

Y'ever seen indoor lacrosse goalies? Some of them are wider than the net!
