Pickett got an at large at 174, which I think means we'll be sending 9 to St. Louis.

157 realbuto 2 seed
165 polacio 12 seed
174 picket unseeded against a 9 seed

Intermat puts us 5th - not sure if this is based on NCAA seeds or their ranking

That's their ranking. SetonHallPirate - an NCAA wrestling forum dude - put us at 4th if chalk holds.

so they question is how to overcome the 24 pts deficit from seeding.

we need to outfall the top teams by 2 thats 4 pts
we need every top seed to wrestle to potential

of the 4 non seeded we need one to get to 8th which would mean at least 4-5 extra points.
we need one 2 seed to spring an upset thats 9-12 pts if the right team gets beat

thats only 21 pts. but its close

We also need misfortune to befall the three (3) teams in front of us. This is not a likely year for a team title but we have legit championship potential in three (3) wrestlers and AA potential in at least three (3) more.

I think we can catch Ohio State if things go very right and they just wrestle to seed (bear in mind the bucknuts looked great last weekend), but, yeah, catching Mizzou or Iowa will take those teams having bad tournaments.

I don't see it happening but I want Logan Steiber to lose so badly. His freshman year title was some bullshit and I don't want him added to the 4x pantheon.

do they have times set for when the matches will go off? i know it starts at noon, but it might be useful to know what brackest will start off or the order they will run the matches to have a better idea when the cornell kids might be on tv

Thursday will be organized chaos since there are 170 matches in the first round [and 640 total matches over 3 days]. Your best bet is to access the brackets on ncaa.com and identify the first match numbers for the nine Cornell wrestlers. The brackets indicate which groups of matches are being wrestled Thursday v. Friday or Saturday. The pigtail matches are first and then they run through the weight classes so Nashon [match #26] will be the first Cornell wrestler up.

ESPNU is covering the tournament on Thursday but they will pick/choose what opening round matches to carry. It looks like ESPN3 will have a camera on each mat but there is no indication how or whether they will announce which matches are where.

I have a subscription to flowrestle.com which carries live stats on the 8 mats simultaneously on their "Arena" link. That makes it easier to anticipate when a match will start and on what mat. I had no trouble following all the Cornell matches during the EIWA although I didn't get anything else done during that 2 day tournament because our guys kept winning and therefore kept wrestling!

They start with 125, go through all of those matches then to 133 (sort of; the mats are at least somewhat predetermined, so if one mat moves more quickly, with pins or no video review, etc., matches at the 133 will start while 125 is still going elsewhere).

You can go to ESPN3 or (probably) trackwrestling.com to keep an eye on when the Cornell guys are coming up. They usually post the upcoming matches. ESPN3 is streaming all matches and you can split-screen up to 4 mats IIRC. Another way to follow is @BigRedWrestling on Twitter does a pretty good job of letting you know when a wrestler is on deck or about to get underway.
