I like the way you titled the thread "Falconry" to justify inclusion in the "Other Sports" forum.

BR, EZ and their family were immensely entertaining last year and they are off to a good start this year as well. I think it is wonderful that the first two eggs hatched on Earth Day.

Don't tell the falconers about them. They're allowed to capture wild birds for personal use.

The ethical ones, anyway.

This winter, we had an incident down here where a "falconer" trespassed on private property in order to try and capture a snowy owl. It was already banded and also fitted with a satellite transmitter - also part of a research project. Several birders informed him of those facts, but he shrugged them off. It caused a major kerfuffle in birding circles.

Star of Hawk Cam is gone.

Big Red returned to the light pole nest with a new mate after Ezra's death. She and Arthur have an unexpected fourth egg to tend to this spring. The first may hatch today.

There are pips on at least 2 eggs, meaning the chicks have started the hatching process. It can take a couple of days for them to break out, however. It is very cool to watch nature at work and I would highly recommend bookmarking the site and stopping in daily for the next few months.
