Heading into the finals, the current team scores:
1. Cornell 139.5
2. Lehigh 137
3. American 95
4. Penn 90.5
Cornell should be running away with this but Billy George (174), either after or late in his consolation semifinal match, maliciously kneed his opponent in the head. The rules of the tournament not only meant that he was disqualified for the match, but all of his accrued points are taken away from Cornell. I've read varying accounts, but I think this was a penalty of 14 points.
Cornell has 5 wrestlers in the finals, Lehigh has 4 and they face each other in one. Here are the finals that we care about, with seed and national ranking in parens:
125 Perrelli, Cornell (1/6) v. Frey, Princeton (2/23)
141 Nevinger, Cornell (2/13) v. Mariacher, American (5/17)
149 Welsh, Lehigh (6/27) v. Tao, American (8/U)
157 Dake, Cornell (1/1) v. Peppleman, Harvard (3/8)
165 Hatchett, Lehigh (1/10) v. Winston, Rutgers (2/21)
184 Bosak, Cornell (1/5) v. Hamlin, Lehigh (2/2) --> seeding/ranking don't match. Hamlin won last year; Bosak won earlier this year.
194 Simaz, Cornell (1/2) v. Burak, Penn (2/5)
Hwt. Flores, American (1/1) v. Rey, Lehigh (2/2) --> Great matchup; last year's conference and NCAA finals.
At 4 points per match, if Cornell wins as many or more finals than Lehigh does, they will win the meet.
Including the finalists, here is where Cornell placed at every weight:
125: Frank Perrelli - Finalist
133: Naryman "Nick" Arujau - 5th place (very unlikely, if not impossible, to qualify for NCAAs qualified for NCAAs!)
141: Mike Nevinger - Finalist
149: Chris Villalonga - 3d place (3d seed - qualified for NCAAs)
157: Kyle Dake - Finalist
165: Marshall Peppleman - 4th Place (3d seed - qualified for NCAAs)
174: Billy George - Would have finished in either 5th or 6th.
184: Steve Bosak - Finalist
197: Cam Simaz - Finalist
Hwy: Maciej Jochym - 5th Place (very unlikely, if not impossible, to qualify for NCAAs)
A very good performance overall, marred only by George's extracurricular activity.

4. Penn 90.5

Finals results:
Frank Perrelli wins 7-4 at 125.
Mike Nevinger loses 6-4 at 141.
Lehigh wins at 149. (Not good for us...)
Dake wins 3-0 at 157. I think Dake has given up one takedown all year.
Lehigh wins at 165 in OT
Bosak loses to Lehigh at 184
Simaz wins 9-4 at 197.
Lehigh LOSES at Heavyweight in OT... and Cornell barely takes the team title!

I think five qualify at 133, so Arujau would be IN. At least, that's what Cornell wrestling tweets say. George and Jochym are out.

Lehigh's Hamlin does it again to Bosak. Bosak shoots, Hamlin spins around and gets the takedown and wins, 3-2.

I can't find a video yet of George's behavior. He also had a point deducted for poking the kid in the eye during the match. If his act was as gross as it sounds (reading some accounts) he needs to be thrown off the team for next season. Let him sit for a year and get some counseling.

Bosak lost to Hamlin the same way he lost to Hamlin three times last year: he takes a shot, misses and Hamlin spins around behind and ends up on top. So frustrating; his aggression does him in.

Color me pleased: I don't know how, since he was 19-15 on the year and finished 5th in a conference tournament that qualifies only 3... but Heavyweight Maciej Jochym has been given a wildcard entry to the NCAA tournament. Congrats, Maciej. Way to close out your senior year.
