Cornell had a 17-2 shot advantage after the 1st period but only led 1-0. Cornell seemed to run out of gas during the last two minutes of the 2nd period when unable to clear their zone, but went into intermission still up 1-0. In the 3rd period SU took advantage of two Cornell players running into each other while chasing the puck at the blueline, and scored on a strange rebound off a shorthanded breakaway. OT was all Orange. The last two periods and OT really belonged to SU.

SU's going to have a great program. I think this is their first win against a ranked team, so congrats to them. The Orange is now 7-2 against the ECAC this year.

They probably had as many fans at Lynah as Cornell did and they were louder and much more into the game than the home supporters. This could be a great rivalry.

edit: I see Al beat me to it in the women's hockey thread.

I agree. I thought Cornell played great for the first and controlled play most of the second, but definitely looked winded in the third. Not having 3 players when we only have 16 skaters to begin with hurts. It was my first chance to see Hompe (the only freshman forward on the team) for an extended period. She's a solid player and if she works hard should be a very solid forward for the team.

I'm still hoping we are bringing in a couple very solid forwards for next year for added depth. Appearantly, Katherine Minnock, a forward from the Washington Pride, has committed to Cornell for next season. I've googled her name but there isn't really any info on her to determine what kind of player she is.
