Not Fall Ball, but just read that next year's NCAA quarterfinals will be at Princeton and Stony Brook, May 22 and 23.

Also not exactly fall lacrosse, but The Ithaca Journal reported yesterday that

Cornell senior defenseman Michael Howe is one of 55 athletes invited to the Team Canada men's lacrosse selection camp. The camp will determine the roster that will represent Canada at the 2010 Federation of International Lacrosse World Championships. The tryouts will take place from Friday, Oct. 9 through Monday, Oct. 12, at St. Michaels College School in Toronto, Ontario.
The article then goes on the rehash his stats from 2009.

Interesting. So this means the "Southern" bracket will be at Princeton. Won't make the Marylanders too happy (although they do get the FF back in Baltimore).

Really surprising. Did no Maryland schools bid?

This also means it's very easy (relative to usual) to get to all four games if you're in metro NY.

i think the committee is trying to throw a bone to other schools b/c the FF is at M&T for the next two years.

I was back in Ithaca for an alumni event Friday-Saturday. Cornell played the Cornell young alumni Friday night at Schoellkopf in lacrosse. Varsity won by something like 15-11. Rob Pannell continues to look awesome. So was Matt McMonagle in goal for the alumni. But I don't think you could tell much fropm the game in terms of thinking about how Cornell would fare next spring since it was easygoing competition and every fifth pass sailed out of bounds. The varsity ran up eight or nine straight goals for a 9-1 or thereabouts lead before the alumni came back.

This was also the night Bill Bradley and Ken Dryden spoke on campus. Or "Ken Dryden '70," according to the electronic report in the Sun. Maybe he did win that 1970 title after all.

And it also was a gorgeous night in Collegetown, warm not hot, humid not rainy (at least not until 10 p.m), and you could feel the hormones in the air. Makes me wish I was an undergrad again although as my wife pointed out, when I called home, I'd probably get shot down all over again.

Actually, still pretty impressive when you consider the alumni team also included Joe Boulukos ’06 (’06 Midfielder of the Year), Mitch Belisle ’07 (’07 Defenseman of the Year), Max Seibald ‘09 (’09 Player of the Year, ’09 Midfielder of the Year, ’09 Tewaaraton Award winner), John Glynn ’09 (Long Island Lizards, Philadelphia Wings), Rocco Romero ‘09 (Denver Outlaws, Colorado Mammoth), David Mitchell ’07 (Philadelphia Wings), Kyle Georgalas ’05, Justin Redd ‘05, Brian Clayton ’07, Casey Lewis '07, Eric Pittard ’07 and David Mitchell ’07 and Chris Finn '09
among others.

If you got a chance to see the recruits Matt Taylor and A J Fiore, how did they look?

Someone interestingly named Dan Freshman reports on Inside Lacrosse that Cornell leads 11-3 at the half (presumably the early game against Penn State). Freshman to report more "tonight."
