Some Cornell-related news in the DC Examiner today.
New assistant coach:
Jeremy Spates will join the Cornell University wrestling staff as an assistant coach. Spates comes to the Ithaca, New York school after serving as an assistant coach at the University of Oklahoma the past five seasons.
Spates will assist the Big Red in all areas of coaching, including recruiting and on-the-mat instruction. A former 149-pounder, he will work with all Cornell wrestlers but will specialize with the middle to lower weight classes.
Anceravage lands a coaching job:
Steve Anceravage, a two-time NCAA All-American wrestler for Cornell University, has joined the staff at North Carolina State University as an assistant coach.
"Steve Anceravage was an outstanding college wrestler and is an excellent addition to our coaching staff," Wolfpack head coach Carter Jordan said. "He comes from a college program in Cornell that has had a great deal of success, a program that stresses academics as much as athletics. In addition to being an excellent wrestler, Steve is smart and ambitious, and he's ready to hit the ground running. He has a great work ethic and is very excited about joining our program. He'll be a difference-maker, both on and off the mat."
