The Big Red wrestling team finished in fourth place with 94 points at the 2007 Southern Scuffle this weekend. Freshman Mack Lewnes won an individual title at 165 pounds while his classmate, Mike Grey finished in second at 133. Juniors Steve Anceravage (174) and Zach Hammond (HWT) finished in third and fourth, respectively.
Minnesota ran away with the title with 182 points. Edinboro finished second and Hofstra third.
Adam Frey (seeded #4 at 141) managed to get pinned in 28 seconds in the quarterfinals. I don't think I've ever seen a wrestler with so much talent get pinned as often as Frey does. The same thing happened at the 2007 NCAAs and at a televised dual meet (I think it was Penn) last winter. He is too aggressive and consequently gets caught out of position far too often for an elite wrestler.
