Grey takes third at 133, Frey second at 141, Leen first at 157, and Lewnes first at 165. (Two freshmen, a sophomore, and a junior.) Upper weight placing matches still to come.

Cornell finished the tournament in 3d place. A quick recap of the successes in the remaining weight classes:

Mike Rodriguez, a senior, placed 6th at 125. The recap said that he was wrestling "unaffiliated," which I take to mean that he was Cornell's #2 entry in the weight class and his results didn't count in the team standings.

Unseeded soph Michael Moore took third place and Zach Hammond took 6th Place at Hwt. (I'm not sure Hammond's result is a success, as he was the 4 seed.)

Hammond had a medical forfeit in the match for 5th/6th place. Strange seedings at heavyweight. Hammond, ranked #12 by Wrestling International Newsmagazine, was seeded #4 at Reno while Oklahoma State's Jared Rosholt, ranked #8 by WIN, was unseeded. Hammond lost to Rosholt in the quarters, then beat teammate Jochym and Bakersfield's Bergman in the wrestlebacks before losing to WIN's #4-ranked-nationally Wade Sauer of Fullerton (who took 3rd at Reno) and then forfeiting his final placing match.

Bracket results are here: [www.rtoc.net]

Rosholt lost 7-3 to Navy's Prendergast in the finals, by the way. Navy has a few really top-notch wrestlers and will be a force in the EIWA tournament.

Rob Koll's thoughts on the Reno tournament are here: [wrestlingreport.com]

[Edit: Nice to see that freshman Mack Lewnes was named outstanding wrestler of the tournament.]
