The last time they were here the games were incredible, though Cornell lost. I hope the facility-side of the event is better prepared this time.

Wasn't field turf supposed to be installed this summer?

Wow, I'm amazed they actually let us host again. Didn't they run out of food last time on top of the scoreboard malfunction? I guess they figure our success lately means we'll probably be in it and get a decent draw for ticket sales.

They did draw a decent crowd. Of course, having Cornell and Syracuse as two of the teams helped.

They ran out of just about everything. There probably aren't enough concession stands for a big crowd. The scoreboard going down just made it that much more difficult to ignore people from out-of-town who kept saying the place is a bit worn.

It was a lack of food more than a lack of places to sell the food that hurt. Somehow, Cornell wasn't prepared. Maybe some local college with a hispitality & food sciences department could help out on planning.

Wonder if, as at Princeton this year, the NCAA and ESPN4 will force all the fans to sit on the crescent side opposite the pressbox and cameras so the place on TV looks even fuller and lacrosse looks even more successful.

The thread mentions how raggedy Schoellkopf looked to visitors. I'm eager to see how much less decrepit Yale Bowl is after its latest multi-million-dollar remodel in place when the football team played there two years ago. I remember the seats being more splinters than wood. But there is lots of grassy space for tailgating. Funny that Cornell, the most remote and rural of Ivy colleges save Dartmouth has the least grassy tailgating space except Penn.

It's the price you pay for having your football stadium smack dab in the middle of campus, unfortunately. I'm sure there'd be plenty of tailgating space if you wanted to build a new stadium out by the Orchards.

Not entirely true. The lines for food were always 50 people deep. Now, it may have been understaffed more than lack of stands, but lack of food selling ability was definitely part of the problem. Oh, and they ran out of food *and* drink, I think before the end of the first game, on a *hot* day.

Even-older-than-me alums, help: Upper Alumni Field stretched all the way from Barton Hall Hall (Comstock Hall was Lower Alumni Field for Cornell's first century) all the way to Riley Robb and Stocking. Was that used for parking and tailgating?

inter-university cooperation? surely you're joking. It would be so much easier to outsource all catering for the event to a large corporation with a record of shoddy service...:-|
