Nice for a change to see a smaller-town journalist get the "no athletic scholarships" thing right.

So, this got me thinking about CU volleball again, and I thought "Geez, I don't remember seeing who they hired to replace the coach. Boy, it's going to be a tough season with a new coach, Deitre was excellent."

So, I looked it up and, oddly enough, they don't have a new coach. 6 months after leaving, she came back. Fantastic...she's on 3 straight Ivy titles and 2 consecutive NCAA tournie appearances.

Season kicks off with a tournie at Cornell Sept 7+8. Just over a month away.

Very interesting development. Suspect the last line in the article cited by CKinsland is the reason she's back--and I'm delighted.

You beat me to this...

"Collins-Parker and her husband Dale, the newly named assistant women's basketball coach at Cornell, will reside in Ithaca."

Very cool.
