If you live anywhere within the driving distance vicinity of Princeton and/or Penn, I hope you folks can make it down for the games this weekend and show support for Cornell basketball.

This Cornell program is in contention for an Ivy championship and could be the first non-Penn/Princeton program since Cornell of '88 to advance to the NCAA tournament.

While Cornell is a LONG SHOT to sweep this weekend, the task is not impossibe. Moreover, this season is merely a building block for Cornell basketball's EXTREMELY bright future. Next year, in addition to returning Ryan Wittman, Louis Dale, Alex Tyler and several other key players, Cornell adds USC transfer Collin Robinson, St. Bonaventure transfer Jeff Foote (7'0";), last year's Ivy Rookie of the Year Adam Gore and our top big man from a year ago Jason Hartford (6'9" 240 lbs.). Cornell is the early favorite for 2007-2008.

Best case scenario for this weekend...

Cornell beats Princeton on Friday night in a slow paced "Princeton-style" game. Columbia and Penn play an as expected physical game on Friday night. Cornell enters Saturday night's game a bit fresher and then pulls off the shocker in the Palestra.

If not, there is always next season!

And yes, the games this weekend are available on tv on ESPNU and YES. But again, use the car if you can!

If I weren't going up to Ithaca for my first Cornell hockey games in months, I would seriously consider it. Have a good time, and Go Red!
