Just curious on everyone’s thoughts. Doesn’t need to be political. Every institution has someone that they wish wasn’t associated with their Alma mater.

As much as I might like to say Ann Coulter, this guy has to be #1

He was big news in my area since one of his victims was from my hometown of Middletown.

All excellent selections but Adolph Jr., Grover, and Herman Coors all deserve consideration. Paul Wolfowitz is a notable POS, too.

I had somehow got it into my head that John Yoo's classmates failed to throw him into the gorge as an undegrad, but, happily, he is not our fault. Harvard sucks.

I like Coulter, Olberbite and Maher to spread the misery among the various religions. They remind me of sophomore year except that with a 2.6 to 1 ratio I can count the number of BS sessions I remember with Cornell women only in imaginary numbers.

Just out of curiosity, when was the ratio at Cornell 2.6 to 1? A quick Google search didn't list year-by-year stats. I thought that Cornell was close to 1 to 1 even when I was at RPI especially since Cornell was the only Ivy at the time which was coed. Or are you referring to specific majors?

BTW, when I was a freshman at RPI in 1964-65, there were 23 women in a class of slightly over 1000, and 23 was more than the other three classes there combined. It rapidly increased while I remained at RPI, but is still about 2/3 male.

As a sporting tangential board, Dave Bliss '65 at least deserves a mention -- no?

Was unaware of him as well. Just looked him up amd read a couple articles. I also see he’s a member of our hall of fame.

In a collision of this thread and "Cornell in the Movies", I recently saw The Informant!, which tells the story of Mark Whitacre, PhD '93.

In the environmental situation, how about Thomas Midgley Jr.1911, inventor of both Freon and leaded gasoline.

Just read his wiki. He might be up there with the serial killer. A movie about him is in the works.

A new low even for Ann Coulter - “Talk about weird …” Coulter posted on X alongside a link to an article about Gov. Tim Walz’s neurodivergent son, Gus, getting emotional during his father’s Wednesday speech in Chicago.

From the NY Times - [The Walz family] learned when Gus was an adolescent that he had “a nonverbal learning disorder in addition to an anxiety disorder and A.D.H.D., conditions that millions of Americans also have.” Nonverbal learning disorders affect a person’s ability to process visual and social patterns.

Neurodivergence aside, it's cringe how the knuckledragger fetish of swaggering, violent, and emotionally constipated masculinity still lurks in the authoritarian sewers.

What weak people think strength is.

Ann Coulter has an older sister, also Cornellian, who is absolutely normal, nice, and also intelligent.

There has always been a theory that Coulter is a cynical, nihilistic opportunist who found the Bottomless Knuck Trough and has been guzzling ever since, not believing a word of it.

Not that that makes her any less scummy.

She was one of the founders of the Cornell Review as an undergrad at the same time D'Souza was doing the same at Dartmouth, financed by the same people financing Charlie Kirk, et al. She's a true believer.

Hey, if a felon/rapist can be elected president (twice!), then why should serial killing cause embarrassment?

Perhaps Ross deserves the crown for "biggest embarrassment" because he got caught, tried, actually sentenced, and ultimately executed.

One’s our embarrassment, the other and his spawn are Penn’s.

To be fair, the rapist in question went to "Penn," much as folks who attend the Kennedy School of Government attend "Harvard."

None of this drip slime got into a tier 1 school on the merits.

So the place you felt this needed to go was [JSID]? Really? The [John Spencer Is Dead] forum. Usually the [[JSID]] tag means something... germane to... maybe Ithaca. But you heard this news about [our woeful penalty kill and power play], and decided the place for this was a thread on [JSID].

Cool. How about some movie reviews? Or what you ate for breakfast? How about the year of a dime you found on the ground yesterday? The last thing I want on this [forum is carping about the hockey team].

Sorry, I... want to be mean about it... c'mon[!]

This morning, I was reading that Mehmet Oz (Harvard BA, Penn MD, professor of surgery emeritus Columbia) has been nominated to head the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. It made me think that we should start a thread - Ivy League’s greatest embarrassments. Then I resized that the list would be way too long.

ChatGPT swears Baruch Goldstein was at Weill, but I can't find corroboration and Cornell is not anxious to claim him.

Yet.
