Last week, I first saw the handle "French Rage" on another forum, and it rang faintly familiar. When Tuesday's game came around, I'd confirmed the connection, and was of course rooting for FR.

Even though he had a lock at the end of Double, could he have gotten a more appropriate Final clue?

Alas, when he stepped up to defend a few minutes later, he ran into an absolute buzzsaw. Annie was 48% first in on the signaling device. That's on par with past winners of the Tournament of Champions, not to mention leading contenders for the next one.*

Just to make it to that stage is an accomplishment in and of itself. It starts with an online test where you (purportedly) have to score 35/50 to even have a shot at being considered. I'll leave it to FR to recount his experience if he wishes, but here's his timeline of important dates.

Congratulations. Jeopardy! Champion is a title held by few, and revocable by nobody.

* Speaking of the next ToC, it'll feature a Cornell alumna - Lisa Schlitt '07. That hasn't been locked down, but most likely it'll be in November.

I especially loved it when she talked to Alex about taking the wine-tasting course at Cornell.

There is a glockenspiel clock, technically. (I mean, don't get me wrong it's still the wrong answer.)

Thanks!

The one that really had me facepalming once I watched was me answering "Viennesse" when the category was specifically about nationalities!
