Cornell University will increase tuition 4.5 percent for undergraduate students in its endowed colleges -- from $37,750 to $39,450 -- but keep tuition for Graduate School students level under a plan the trustees have adopted, the university announced Monday.

Overall, the cost of room and board, tuition and mandatory fees for undergraduate students in the university's endowed colleges will rise by 4.4 percent, from $50,114 to $52,316.

The tuition for resident New York state students in Cornell's state-supported colleges will increase by the same dollar amount as for students in the endowed colleges -- $1,700 -- to $23,310, or 7.9 percent from this year.

Tuition for non-state resident students in the state-supported colleges will equal increases for students in the endowed colleges and will be set at the same level, $39,450.

Average undergraduate room fees and the full dining plan will increase by 4 percent, from $12,160 to 12,650.

The cost of Graduate School tuition will stay at $29,500 for students in the endowed colleges and at $20,800 for students in the state-supported colleges.

The Cornell Student Assembly recommended increasing the undergraduate student activity fee from $204 this year to $216. The graduate student activity fee will rise from $6 to $76.

Ithaca campus professional schools' tuition and other fees for 2010-11:

* Law School: Cornell Law School tuition rates rose by 4.5 percent, to $51,150, and to $53,850 for students in the one-year LL.M master's program.

* Johnson Graduate School of Management: Tuition for the two-year MBA program will increase 4.5 percent to $49,272, while tuition for the accelerated 12-month program will increase 7.6 percent to $29,800. Tuition for Cornell's executive MBA program options will be increasing to $138,800 (3.9 percent) for the two-year program and to $103,680 (3.9 percent) for the Cornell/Queen EMBA program offered with Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario.

* College of Veterinary Medicine: Tuition for state-resident DVM students will increase by 4.5 percent to $27,700. Tuition for nonresident DVM students will increase by 5.6 percent to $41,700.
