Does anyone else find this as repugnant as I do?

Do you mean Ken70, or the idea that Cornell should strive for a diverse faculty?

I mean the idea that Cornell would spend its hard-earned alumni donations/student tuition/endowment earnings/grants won to send some of its faculty on a summer vacation boondoggle where they can pat themselves on the back while contemplating how to inject "diversity" into fluid mechanics lectures.

Yech.

I think the article is actually about Cornell training its faculty to incorporate issues of diversity in the curriculum, which is a bit silly in subjects that are abstract enough that social issues are basically irrelevant. (The same thing came up at Loyola with service learning and social justice.) On the other hand, Ken70 clearly found that in some sort of source of fodder for his obsession of "out of control liberal faculty", and I don't think there's any point in our helping him stroke his indignation.

I meant the BS concept of trying to force "diversity" into places where it has no relevance out of some misplaced politically correct notion.

I don't care whether you are black, white, male, female, whatever. In this school we obey the laws of thermodynamics.
