What kind of bizarre story is this? The headline pretty much says it all:
Beating at N.Y. bar strains US-Serbia relations.

The Daily News covered this story with the full tabloid treatment.
A 6'9" Serbian beat a guy into a coma in a bar fight. Then, after the accused surrendered his passport to the Broome County court, a Serbian Embassy official (a) posted $100K bail and (b) issued the kid an emergency passport. The defendant promptly jumped bail and flew back to Serbia.
Serbia is now ignoring an Interpol arrest warrant and is refusing to extradite him. The guy recently signed with a professional basketball team in Serbia, so it isn't even like the guy is in hiding.
