SCALPING
There is a zero-tolerance policy for ticket scalping. In New York State, tickets can be sold with no more than a 20% markup for small venues. If you offer tickets for sale for more than this, offer to purchase for more than this, or use intentionally vague language, your post will be deleted and your IP will be banned.

As of 2008, New York State has repealed its scalping laws except as they apply to resellers who deal in relatively large volume (usually measured in a "per event" fashion). So according to state law, you may sell Cornell hockey tickets for whatever the market will bear. However, selling such tickets for above face value may still be a violation of any license agreement you made with Cornell Athletics at the time you purchased them. In addition, you should be aware that the vast majority of Lynah Faithful consider it rude and predatory to take advantage of the aftermarket in order to profit from other Cornell hockey fans, and may not take kindly to it.

Either way: State clearly what you will take or offer for a ticket. We will no longer police this forum for markups, but posts that are vague about price will not be approved.

SUBJECT LINE
State clearly in your subject line if you are looking for tickets or are looking to sell tickets, in addition to which game(s), and whether the game is home or away.

CONTACT INFORMATION
Be sure to include one or more ways potential buyers or sellers can contact you.

COMPLETED TRANSACTIONS
If your transaction has been successfully completed, edit your subject/post or reply to it stating it is complete so it may be removed.

BUMPING
I am making a concerted effort to remove completed transactions and posts for past events. Everything in the ticket exchange should be considered valid and current. Bumping threads will not be tolerated. This will only result in a constant barrage of bumps to get posts near the top. As a courtesy, try to accomodate oldest posts first. If you don't like it, find someplace else to peddle your tickets.

YOU MUST HAVE AN ACCOUNT TO POST
In order to increase accountability, anonymous posts to the ticket exchange are no longer permitted. In addition, everyone will have at least one way to contact you (via private message through the forum). Please read the rest of this thread in order to understand why we still require you to post an additional method of contact.

Wondering why your posts aren't showing up? It's very simple. You didn't follow the posting policies listed in this thread. If you don't clearly state your price, I'm assuming you're trying to scalp. If you aren't clear about whether you're looking for tickets or trying to sell them or whether it's for a home or away game, your post simply won't make it. The rules are simple. Follow them.

Folks -

Lately there has been a rash of Ticket Exchange postings with no contact information, or with no specific price sought for tickets for sale (or even, believe it or not, with no indication of whether the poster is selling or seeking tickets for the game in question). It isn't a good use of my time or Age's to explain to each poster why we can't approve the post, and instructing them to repost. The policies are right here at the top of the forum for a reason - so posters will read them.

As of right now, the spirit of Age's "Wondering where your posts are?" post is once again in effect. If you do not include an e-mail address or phone number(*), if you offer tickets for sale without indicating the price you seek, or if you fail in some other way to comply with the policies listed in Age's original post, your post will get deleted without anybody ever seeing it, and we won't lose a second of sleep over it. It's not that difficult, people.

(*) Yes, in theory everybody who posts here has access to the PM system on eLF. But many people who come here looking for tickets are not registered users themselves - and even many registered users don't know about PMs. Include an e-mail address or phone number, period, or your post doesn't go up.

For those still not quite getting it:

The reason that posters must include contact information is so that you can use that contact information. If you want to buy tickets that someone posted for sale, or want to sell tickets to someone who posted a need for them, contact that person via e-mail or phone. Please do not post a reply on this forum. If they don't respond to your e-mail or return your call, I'm sorry, life is rough - but please do not post a reply on this forum. The only messages on this forum should be original posts from original sellers or buyers.

If one of us sees it, sure. But we have work and other commitments, and can't be in front of eLF all day any day, much less game day - and game day might involve significant travel, or a long, early dinner with friends. Of course sometimes stuff happens at the last minute that you just can't help - your buddy who was going to the game with you suddenly came down with a nasty case of brain death, or your facetiming hockey date also turned out to be a two-timing hockey date. But we're sure you'll agree that this also isn't our problem. When possible, plan ahead; when not possible, please feel free to make a post that we'll approve if we see it - but then go ahead and try to sell your tickets the old-fashioned way, making phone calls to friends and/or standing in front of the Fieldhouse.

With a new season on the way, and season ticket sales beginning soon, a few things are worth repeating:

State clearly in the subject line whether you're selling or buying tickets. If you don't, your post will not get approved.

State clearly how much you are seeking (if you're selling) or how much you are offering (if you're buying) for the tickets. If you don't, your post will not get approved.

(As mentioned in a separate thread, we will no longer police for markups, but you markup at your own risk.)

Offer at least one reliable method of contacting you directly besides eLF's PM system, whether that's phone, e-mail, AIM, ICQ, Skype, carrier pigeon, or smoke signals. If you don't, your post will not get approved.

By the same token, the contact information is there for a reason. Do not reply to a Ticket Exchange post by making another Ticket Exchange post. We won't approve it anyway, so the original poster will never see it.

If your post doesn't get approved, we will not notify you - it simply won't appear in the forum. The rules are clear and easy to follow, and we just don't have the time to point out the ways in which you're failing to do so.
