FYI, I just received my season ticket renewal form in the mail.

The deadline for renewing tickets is Sept 6, and the ticket upgrade date is Sept 18. Single game tickets go on sale Oct. 16.

Can the regular season be far behind?

Ok. For someone who no longer wants to endure the student ticket line and who has yet to send in their CHA membership form - tho I can do it immedialtely if it will help get a seat anywhere in the rink for the season - what is the best way to get season tix? How do the townies do it? What is the best bet for 1st time non student season tix?

I thought the ticket request was available on the currently out-of-date CHA membership form (http://www.athletics.cornell.edu/cha/) but I don't see it. Maybe it has been on the membership renewal forms. Your best bet would be to contact the CHA and ask. I'll have to dig out a copy of the newsletter when I get home to get CHA contact information for you. Couldn't find it on the web page.

I found my copy of the May 2002 newsletter, and it only gives the PO box for sending the membership form. However, it does give phone numbers for the CHA president, VPs, and treasurer (I'm not sure whether it's okay to post the numbers here, so send me an e-mail if you need them).

The treasurer is listed as Sue Detzer, who also runs the Cornell hockey office. Personally, I'd just skip straight to the hockey office -- the number I have is 607-255-4171. Or you could try the ticket office -- 607-254-2327 or athletictickets@cornell.edu.

Good luck!

If you become a member of the boosters you are entitled to either get or renew tickets through their alotment. You have to pay a little extra (although I think you're entitled to perks like parking and a slight break on the afterglow price) and I don't think you can get tickets in the student sections, but otherwise it's perfect. Anne and I have gotten our tix that way for about a decade.

Did you have to say it like that? Sheesh.

I believe that becoming a CHA member is the only way to get season tickets if you're not a student or affiliated with the university in some way (unless, of course, you have a friend who is willing and able to get tickets for you).

The basic CHA membership is $35/year, plus the cost of tickets. I think it's the standard non-student price. This year, season tickets are $165 ($190 for Section C) and the parking pass is $40.

Once you have season tickets, it's very easy to renew them. I think there is sometimes a waiting list for new season tickets, but I don't know the situation these days. You also may not have a great deal of control over exactly where you sit.

LGR!

What's the deal with the parking pass? Since we've been able to park for free in either the lot next to the Field House (whatever its name is these days) or in the parking garage, what does the $40 buy you? A spot next to the zamboni?

The parking pass allows you to park at the top of the Kite Hill lot, right across from Lynah. Makes for a nice short walk to the rink...very nice on a cold/snowy night.
