Cornell got a mention in this week's SI, of a different sort... check out page 24 of the July 1, 2002 issue at the bottom. It's a story about the big red's RoboCup team that competed in far east asia a week ago. Cornell is 2 time world champs in their league!

I think it's a pretty good bet that this is the first time a Cornell Engineering professor was ever quoted in SI.

They won this year. Which actually should make them THREE time world champions. And I'm not totally sure about this, but that makes Cornell the all time leader in its league winning 3 out of 6 championships. (Carnegie Mellon won the first two, but has been awful ever since. And I forget which country knocked down Cornell last year, but they've been the most consistent rival for years).

I saw a feature on this on TV a few months back. I think it may have been Taiwan than knocked Cornell out last year. The bots are getting very, very cool.

Hey Beeeej, does it make you feel all warm and fuzzy that someday you'll be able to Google for "Singapore Polytechnic Sucks" and have it find something (not out of context)?
