I'm actually surprised Thomas Vanek didn't make the cut.

Quick look at the stats of these guys
Junior Lessard, Minnesota-Duluth;
27G, 28A, 55pts (1st)
Brandon Bochenski, North Dakota;
24G, 29A, 53pts (2nd)
Jim Slater, Michigan State;
19G, 29A, 48pts (5th)
Derek Edwardson, Miami;
17G, 30A, 47pts (6th)
Zach Parise, North Dakota;
20G, 27A, 47pts (6th)
Steve Saviano, New Hampshire;
26G, 21A, 47pts (6th)
Tony Voce, Boston College.
28G, 16A, 44pts (12th)
Thomas Pöck, Massachusetts;
15G, 23A, 38pts (1st among D-men)
Keith Ballard, Minnesota;
11G, 23A, 34pts (2nd among D-men)
Yann Danis, Brown ;
0.942SV% (2nd), 1.81GAA (3rd)
I think one of the intangibles here is that Parise was on the gold medal world junior team. Not that it should come into play when the committee makes its decision. There isn't really a total standout player among this group, so I'd say that the award goes to the guy who makes the most impact on his team. That would seemingly, be Danis, but his end-of-season collapse should preclude him from selection. On this basis, the two North Dakota guys would be tough to choose between.

I guess its nice that Steve Saviano turned out to be a bona fide scorer, right?
Right?
(And I agree with Daina about Vanek. He finished in 7th in scoring with 46 even though he missed 6 games. Though missing 6 games is a strike against him.)

Did any of these 10 ever come close to signing on with Cornell? We've got half a year now to play what-could-have-been.

If you really want to play "what-could-have-been", LeNeveu's performance from last year runs away with the award this year.
