I don't think that broodmares would be correct.
Studs are males that are paid to fuck lots of females
Females that are paid to fuck lots of males are...
Never mind. You were right, metaphor...workshop

a) this is devolving
b1) there is the term "himbo"
b2) Elaine Boosler: "Why isn't there a word for 'male bimbo.' Wait, there is. 'Congressman.'"

I thought the recent drop-off in Hockey East was going to be a blip, but it really seems like the WCHA and ECAC are separating themselves from the pack.

Given that the season is now over, what is the outlook for incoming recruits (2023-2024)? I can't find a consistent list of incoming players for next year. I know of the following:

- Karel Prefontaine (F)
- Piper Grober (D)
- Anneliese Bergmann (G)
- Lindzi Avar (F)

The first two were on the Canadian U18 team last year (aged out this year?). Bergmann was the US U18 goalie for the last two years. Does anyone know any other commits? I know Rose Dwyer (Grace's sister) is committed, but I think she is 2024-2025.

A defenseman, Abigail Thibodeau, has also been listed as a Cornell commitment for some time: [www.eliteprospects.com]

Am I hallucinating or have people been saying for the last few years that this is an exceptional incoming class that should return Cornell to NC$$ title contention?

This year’s freshman and the incoming class are both stellar. 4 out of the 5 incoming gals who are listed above played for either the Canadian or US U-18 teams. I believe Bergmann is considered the best goalie in her age group in the world.

That would be great if Bergmann is as good as she is ranked. Goaltending was a definite weakness for this year's team. Each of the three goalies had multiple chances to seize the No. 1 job, and none of them were up to the task, although Fraser played better toward the end of the season. For the season, our goalies' save percentage was .883, which isn't good enough for a championship team.

Part of the problem is that teams in our league (Colgate, Quinnipiac, and Yale) have also been recruiting lights-out. There are quite a few Canadian U18's on Colgate's recruiting class this year as well.

I agree the goaltending was a weak spot, but the team was also without Guilday and Messier on D for most of the season.

I believe Lindzi Avar is also a 2024-25 recruit. She is listed as being in 11th grade on her high school team’s roster.

Beatrice Perron-Roy is also committed for next year. She plays with Karel Prefontaine at Stanstead. She appears to be another solid recruit. Here is a link to Stanstead’s player stats page for the current season: [stansteadcollege.myschoolapp.com].

So from a recruiting standpoint, we have:

2023-2024
- Karel Prefontaine (F)
- Piper Grober (D)
- Anneliese Bergmann (G)
- Beatrice Perron-Roy (F)
- Abby Thibodeau (D) ?

2024-2025
- Lindzi Avar (F)
- Rose Dwyer (D)

Yes. I heard rumor at one point that it wasn’t certain if Bergmann would arrive in 2023-24 or 2024-25. She’s a senior this year so I’m not sure why she would delay coming.

Maybe it was thought one of the goalies on the current roster would step up and take control of the position. Since that obviously didn’t happen there’s no reason for Bergmann to defer a year if she’s academically on track.

ESPN just wrote about how there are only 37 D-1 women's hockey teams, while there are 62 men's teams. Most of the Michigan schools, for example, which have men's teams don't have women's teams. That helps explain why the women's D-1 tournament only has 11 teams. As it is, that's nearly one-third of the teams.

Incoming goalie Anneliese Bergmann will have an opportunity to make history when she start in goal for the NAHL Janesville Jets.
