Everyone is a coward.

These Clarkson 2022 jerseys are the worst I’ve seen them wear in this era where they have to have 18 different sweaters every year like Michigan does.

Aesthetics aside, i think it’s so cool to even be able to do 1930s era throwbacks.

Is that what they are? Huh. I like the look of shoulder yokes as long as they connect in the back. (SLU did the same thing this weekend.) The front logo looks like a terminal window login. Otherwise I like the deep colors and the bottom striping.

The game is pretty ok too so far.

Oof.

BTW, sometimes replays are fine, but I don’t like the lack of urgency the refs appear to approach them. Hire a guy who used to do the goal judging to be looking at all the plays. Only then can we stop the band from playing “jeopardy” 4x per game.

We need an analysis of time of review and likelihood of overturn. My intuition is short and very long: upheld, long: overturned.

We controlled the front of the net on both sides of the ice. Drove the puck to the net and collected rebounds on offense, cut down on rebounds and negated threats on big ones on defense.

That's what we've been missing when we look bad.

Can someone who understands Pairwise better than I do tell me if we can *officially* stop paying attention to it? If we win the next 5 straight including @Quinnipic next week and vs.Quinnipiac in Placid semis, but lose to say Clarkson in the ecac final, is it possible we get an at large?

Whatever collegehockeyranked.com is allows you to put in future games. In your scenario, we went up to 15th (I had to treat one game as home and one as road in Lake Placid instead of neutral site). No idea if their calculator is accurate, there are a bunch of other games and outcomes too, and 15th usually isn't enough to get in. But I'd say the odds are exceedingly slim rather than zero.

If we end up tied with RPI (magic number 1 point), we would lose. We would have to be swept, and they would have to sweep. They would win the tie based on more league wins (including regulation and overtime but not shootouts) by 11-10.

We would also lose the three-way tie with RPI and Colgate. Just win!

Especially in hockey, where a bunch of stuff can happen after the reviewed play and then get wiped out. But really, at some point an occasional bad call has to be the lesser evil to incessant game-killing interruptions and delays.

Yeah, I've watched Mack's non-goal a few times now. He goes after a bouncing puck in the crease and is even getting interfered with by Clarkson players. It was hard on the Clarkson goalie, but good goal as far as I can see.

I bet ours don't conform either. The sleeve numerals look like they're only 3 inches.

Andreev didn't play well against SLU. He looked slow.

The first power play unit looked much better with Malinski at the top rather than Andreev.

That said, everyone has their off nights and I hope Andreev comes back strong next weekend.

If Psenicka puts on any more muscle he may collapse into a singularity.

I remember a game, possibly a senior night, but certainly very late in a season where we were handily beating someone, and they sent a senior with no goals out for about 4 shifts in a row at the end of the third period. Everyone was doing everything they could to set him up. After about the third shift, he skated over to the bench, absolutely gassed, but nobody would let him on the bench - all the players were just waving him back into the ice.

In the movie version, he scored on that 4th shift. Alas….

That sounds about right - I’m certainly old enough! The last two home games that year were a 3-1 win and a 4-2 loss, neither of which fit my memory of a relatively meaningless situation in a relatively decided game. My memory has been known to be less than 100% reliable, however!

We are all Sullivan Mack.
someone else will remember who this was but there was a player when I was at Cornell who had no goals his entire career. Senior year, he lined up an empty-netter and a teammate vultured it by redirecting a shot that was already on target. Burke?
I remember a game, possibly a senior night, but certainly very late in a season where we were handily beating someone, and they sent a senior with no goals out for about 4 shifts in a row at the end of the third period. Everyone was doing everything they could to set him up. After about the third shift, he skated over to the bench, absolutely gassed, but nobody would let him on the bench - all the players were just waving him back into the ice.

In the movie version, he scored on that 4th shift. Alas….

When I hear "Cornell player with no goals in his career", the name that comes to mind is Christian Felli.
That sounds about right - I’m certainly old enough! The last two home games that year were a 3-1 win and a 4-2 loss, neither of which fit my memory of a relatively meaningless situation in a relatively decided game. My memory has been known to be less than 100% reliable, however!

Sans the empty-netter thing, which I don't remember happening, this does sound like Felli. His senior season was 1994-95, and Cornell's last home game that season was an 8-2 romp over Union. I do remember him getting a lot of ice time toward the end, with the Lynah Faithful cheering for him like crazy, but he did not score, in large part because he and several of his teammates couldn't stop laughing about the whole thing.

yeah, that’s the one. I had him as a ‘92 instead of ‘95 for some reason.

He wasn't a senior, apparently, but i'm pretty sure the guy I'm thinking of was Dave Burke. Didn't score until late in his Junior year despite basically playing 30 games a year from his first year on campus.

I didn’t realize how anxiously everyone was awaiting my thoughts on last night’s game! Sorry to keep everyone waiting.

Without further ado…(drumroll, please)…

Last night’s effort was probably the most complete performance by Cornell in any game I’ve watched this season. They got pucks to the net, had guys in close for tips and rebounds, the defense tied guys up and boxed guys out, the goaltending was solid. The only game I watched this season where Cornell may have played better was the Lynah East game (which Cornell lost). I am especially happy for the seniors, who have been through so much.

pretty much the same game as the first clarkson effort.. they have played Clark/Quin/Harv/BU/ND all pretty well this year.. its the bottom feeders they have let the guard down.. pretty much what Coach said in the pre-game.. too bad had they finished off those teams they would have had a great record,

Some of that is that they have nice group of players.. still way too young, but they also dont really have that dominant player who turns those close games around in a good way.

Jeff Roche 1979 4 102
I graduated in 1978 and have no recollection of Jeff Roche. That was a high-scoring era of college hockey, so to score that few goals in that many games back then would have been pretty tough to do.

I remember the name. I don't remember his play at all. But TBH, there were plenty of stars on the '78-'79 team.

In my memory, it’s Blair Ettles, who could barely skate because of a knee injury earlier in the season. Maybe it was both of them? Man, Union was awful.

I never realized Jabob MacDonald had so few goals. Of course, he's also had some NHL appearances so obviously goals aren't the only important metric for a defenseman who gets to that level. And Kirill never did strike me as a goal scorer when he played so not surprised he showed up on this list.
