(not sure if this is a topic for "Hockey" or "Other Sports", but I figure if any CU athlete is going to make any $ out of NIL, it'd be hockey, so I'm putting this here)v
Reading an article about NIL this morning got me thinking - has the Ivy League or Cornell Athletics or any coaches made any announcements about this yet? The article talks about Syracuse hoops, so it sounds like NIL is an OK thing in NY State. Has anyone local to Ithaca seen any ads with local athletes?

It'll be interesting to see how this plays out.

I think Yianni Diakomihalis and Vito Arujau, both wrestlers with international experience, are likely to get NIL deals. Yianni may already have one.

Cripe, now there'll be a line on the athlete's aid package -- sorry, student-athlete -- Cornell will want to treat it as Scholarship, Outside, and do a dollar-for-dollar reduction in grant money. Could you see that happening?

It’s not just Cornell’s financial aid — the students have to report it as regular income, so it would show up on their FAFSA as well and potentially reduce federal aid. NIL will have no impact on athletic scholarships (by NCAA rule, it can’t) but may disproportionately affect those at schools that only offer need-based aid.

That said, Ivy athletes have always had to deal with this scenario to some extent since they’ve been allowed to hold jobs. Though presumably they don’t pay as much as an NIL deal might.
