My immediate questions are Leahy and Regush. Hadn’t we heard that they moved on?

PS: I found Regush in a Grand Forks Herald transfer portal list. And then this for Leahy. Perhaps these didn’t happen?

PPS: Didn’t we also hear from Schafer that Haiskanen, Locke, and Betts would be back? I’m very excited to see Betts (Gr) in the roster.

I thought Stienberg was barnstorming (in an NCAA-legal fashion) and broke his leg.

It's the landings that get you.

Unless we don't play in which case it's more likely that those teams who played this past year will play.

Also he has 2 years of NCAA eligibility left so like Matt if he plays as a grad student it will be one, allowed and two, less costly at Miami.

Would he be allowed to play as a grad student at Cornell or was that waiver granted only for one class?

I think it's really difficult to say no to playing D1 hockey while paying no tuition and picking up a free masters degree.

Leahy apparently transferred to UVM so you wouldn't see him on campus.

What happened to Song? Just because you haven't seen him on campus, you presume he's not returning to the team? He's a rising senior so has one more year of Ivy eligibility. His LinkedIn says he has a NYC i-banking summer internship, so perhaps he's just not on campus at the moment.

Will this year's sophomores (e.g., Rego) still have 4 years eligibility?

You could be right, I’m just saying Song has not been working out with the rest of the upperclassman.

Hopefully they waited till this year to enroll.

Our collective memory seems wanting. What I thought was that there is a one year "waiver" for the Ivy class of '22 to play a grad year without transferring. That's one of the reasons that I thought Regush left.

I hope my memory is wrong.

None of this makes any sense to me.

My assumption is the Ivies have their restrictions in place to maintain at least lip service to the ideal of being an actual student rather than just a rockhead with a slapshot. OK, fine, I can get behind that principle whatever I think of their real thinking (hypocrisy) or execution (risible).

But in the case of the pandemic obviously these guys are not trying to put one over on them. They're victims. So the fuck wouldn't the Ivies simply waive all eligibility restrictions other than the NC$$'s, just for the students from the last 5 classes, who were screwed through no fault of their own? Are they really that petty?

I understand that at the level of these institutions everything is driven by the worst possible motives, and that you would not want any of these people in charge of anything with human repercussions in a good world. But, given Our Timeline, what would have been the harm to the Ivies to dispense with the charade just this once?

Back in February, the Ivy league granted a one-time waiver for only grad students for the 2021-22 season, so I don't believe this applied to Regush:
