2019 TBRW Awards

Like last season, the Awards will be preceded by an indeterminate period of wise and considered commentary by all of you eLF contributors on this thread. In the spirit of Late Stage Capitalism the final decision will be by my personal, arbitrary, autocratic whim.

Prior Awards.

The statistically-determined awards:

Moeser Award (Leading Point Scorer): Barron

Norton Award (Leading D Scorer): Kaldis

Hayward Award (Leading Goaltender): Galajda

Kaldis and Bauld are in the running, but I think Donaldson's the clearest MacFarlane award winner in quite some time.

+1, Dadswell as well. I just love the way he hustles, and sprints to the bench at the end of his shift. I think he has major breakout year next year.

Natyshak: Nuttle, who played 2 (!) games his freshman year; of the three, he's who we'll miss the most
MacFarlane: Andreev, for his explosive skating and the beauty of his passing; hopefully, the team catches up at some point to the most talented passer I've seen for a damn long time
Gage: Bauld, who was finally rewarded at the end for all that effort; maybe Malott, who'll probably run away with this next season
Shippel: Locke, who does the stuff necessary to make Barron and Donaldson shine; when he was out, we were not good
Schafer: [vacant], or maybe a team award; no one stands out to me… maybe yet
Oates: Devin Brosseau, who came to Galajda's aid
Dadswell: Regush, but it might turn out to be Andreev or Leahy in retrospect
Nieuwendyk: Kaldis, without whom, even though he has some significant bonehead moments, the team would grind to a halt

Natyshak: Wait, Nuttle won last year. Wouldn't voting for him again mean he improved substantially twice? With that said, there's no one else really to choose from.
MacFarlane: Donaldson
Gage: Starrett
Schippel: Mullin
Schafer: Vanderlaan
Oates: Savory (RPI)
Dadswell: Regush
Nieuwendyk: Kaldis

OK, things have died down a bit so let me put up my provisional choices.

Natyshak: Nuttle. We've had a repeat winner before in Jake MacDonald. I believe Matt improved significantly in all four seasons.

MacFarlane: Donaldson. So weird to have a team with half a dozen fine skaters. Kaldis is a strong skater, but Cam is beautiful and that's the original intent of the award.

Gage: McGrath. No debate AFAIC.

Shippel: Vanderlaan. As somebody said "scrappiness" is basically the guy's middle name.

Schafer: Vanderlaan. Heart of the team as was obvious when we missed him.

Oates: Owen Savory (RPI). Denied us three points, practically single-handedly.

Dadswell: Regush. This was Max' award until he was hurt. Regush certainly earned it over the second half.

Nieuwendyk: Kaldis. The epitome of our two-way play.

So. Fight me.

So. Fight me.

Nope. I actually had Kaldis penciled in for Macfarlane and Nieuwendyk, but went a different way. After that, I needed someplace for Kaldis.

But I have no problem with your choices.

Yeah I know. So not eLynah. woot

Oates: Owen Savory (RPI). Denied us three points, practically single-handedly.

Not that I know who the other contenders would be, but it would not surprise if an RPI goaltender, Lovisa Selander, would also have won this award if you gave awards for women's hockey.

It's too bad that neither RPI team is able to score goals.
