CHN has been kind of screwy the last two days. Based on the end of game notifications I receive, apparently tonight Clarkson kicked a field goal to end the game.

Seems to be an every year thing during the playoffs. I always ascribe it to insufficient server capacity for the user wave that hits then.

unfortunately, it is ... long story, but would cost double to increase server capacity to where it's needed - but it's only really needed for 2 weeks. It's a constant issue, and I'm constantly trying to figure it out and babysit it.

as for the OT thing - as I tell about 10 twitterers a night - we're at the mercy of whatever data the random interns working at each arena send through.

I didn't mean it as a knock, Adam. I really like the CHN app, and use it all the time. I just thought the 5-2 OT win was amusing.

Here I was hoping someone took my suggestion and instead of removing players for OT like the NHL, started adding pucks.

I also did not mean it as a criticism. I assumed it was cost and understandable.andyw2100

I don't know how most sites handle surge. Maybe rent temporary cloud capacity for a brief period? The nice thing is the need follows a predictable pattern.
To an Old such as I, CHN, eLF, USCHO, and ESPN+ are miracles.

I wasn't taking them as knocks - just felt the need to explain - but it exasperates me as much as anyone.

The end of season problem is less frustrating than rinks not reporting (whenever).
