Good first period - lots of possession and shot-blocking, and nice opportunistic play by Yates for the score.

Looked to me like a Donaldson centering pass went off a Princeton skate to Yates. Doesn't matter. 1-0.

I thought it was the rebound that went off the Princeton skate to Yates, but as you say, doesn't matter. :-)

Al's right about the sequence and the relevance. As long as it ended up in the back of the net.

Great first period. Thought the call on Kaldis was ticky-tack and the timing was terrible. Princeton needed the breather.

Princeton up 2-1 - blocked shot in the Princeton zone leads to a one-on-none break and a goal.

Princeton sure knows how to transition after a turnover or blocked shot. We've got to do a better job getting pucks through

It wasn't kicked in. It deflected in off our own player's (Nuttle) skate.

Cornell played fine. I don't think Princeton is very good. They had very little possession the entire game and couldn't set anything up in the offensive zone. They play a style where they start rushing up on offense as soon as they see even the slightest glimmer of a teammate possessing the puck, even if it means neglecting their defensive assignments. I don't know if Cornell was prepared for it--it led to their second goal and several other breaks--but Cornell had plenty of its own chances going the opposite way and just didn't score. I feel bad for all the Cornell fans who made the trip. Rooting for Clarkson to win it all now, obviously.

(quoting myself) ...on the other hand, Princeton winning could knock out North Dakota and put another relatively easy opponent in the tournament.

I do think Princeton had a good game plan in terms of looking to attack when our D-men jumped into the play. We've been great at getting back on D all season and it didn't happen today.

I blame the olympic sheet. I hate it. We got stranded with the puck in the offensive zone with no teammates to pass to very often.

a kick that leads to a deflected goal still does not count.. or are the ncaa rules different than every other usa hockey rulebook?

He didn't kick the puck; he basically tripped over the puck. If Nuttle hadn't kicked it himself it would have skidded harmlessly through the crease.

Plus doesn't it have to be an offensive player's kick?

demented No one kicked anything.

1. The puck bounces off the end boards surprising Galadja.
2. The Princeton player smacks at it with a backhand but whiffs.
3. The puck bounces off the Princeton player's skate while he's whiffing.
4. The puck slides across the crease, wide of the goal.
5. Nuttle pulls up in the crease to block the whiffed backhand attempt.
6. The puck deflects off the heel of Nuttle's skate and into the net.

that's right, but if a princeton player had knocked the puck in the way nuttle did, i think the refs wave it off

the princeton kid had the puck slide back to him and tried a back kick to get control of the puck it then slid over to knuttle and he whiffed and kicked it in,
