FWIW, I also got a reminder email yesterday that it was 4pm, so they're still "spreading the word" and I think 4pm is a pretty safe bet.

game time change , no kids, and bad weather might end up with small crowd and people showing up around 6:30 wondering why there is 5 min left.

Solid opening period incuding a goal by Betts on a fantastic drive and feed by Malott. Couldn't pop one in on the 5x3 to close the period but had a lot of good chances. Unfortunately with 8 seconds left in the period everyone kept waiting for the perfect shot and didn't get anything off before the buzzer. Looking solid against a team that skates well and seems like it can create chances.

Betts with the freshman hat trick makes it 4-1 going into the second intermission. Sounds like they're controlling play pretty well.

As hard as it was for Canisius to keep up in the defensive end in the first period, it was like watching a dog chase its tail in the second. The Red is moving the puck and winning the battles in the corners. Canisius can set things up with space when they are carrying the puck but are otherwise overmatched.Beeeej

They absolutely can't keep up with Malott or take him off the puck. Betts is having a day camping between the circles and waiting for Malott to find him.

There were points in that game where Cornell's minutes-long cycling and inability to be taken off the puck called to mind some physically dominant Schafer teams of the mid-2000s.
But equally determinative of the outcome was some very impressive passing, an area Cornell has vastly improved in the past few seasons.

if control the game and quality shots dictated score it would have been about 15-4..
Canisius is pretty quick though,, they had a couple semi breaks that Stewart made good saves on.. the shots on goal does not reflect the quality of the chances we had that netted nothing.. at least 3 pipes, the goal that didnt count that looked in live but i dont think you could see a couple off the goalies head, he actually played well in stopping 4 or 5 more but also looked sloppy in a couple he did give up.. They have no D so they better score

Getting past Cornell's ability to cycle, Canisius had an interesting strategy of letting players walk in on their goalies and eventually it bit them on the first Yates goal. They stuck with the strategy, though, and then it bit them again on the second Yates goal.

The kid's a difference maker who will only get better. Hard to believe he hasn't put one in the net yet, but he's had some great chances. Once he gets one they'll likely come in bunches.

Funny how Vanderlaan and Angello are barely visible now, when they used to stand out as beacons. I don't think they've declined; everybody else has just joined / surpassed them.

Both guys had good games and good chances imo, but man that Rauter-Malott-Betts line was something else. And Yates just keeps sniping. This team rolls deep and it's something to see.Trotsky

The team is still a little too prone to give up odd-man chances but given all the offense the team is generating it's a risk I have to get used to.

Vanderlaan and Angello, along with linemate Locke, actually had terrific games. Fact is we just have scoring depth across 4 lines. Consider this: last night we had a guy (Bauld) in street clothes who’s had a hat trick this season.
I’ve always been a big Yates fan, and nice to see him continuing his upward trajectory. No doubt he’ll be signed by someone after the season.
Also scary to think how good Malott and Barron may become. They play similar games combining strength and skill. They’re a real handful for opposing defenses.

That Barron Yates Cam line was so good I'm pretty sure I saw them getting double shifted in the 3rd to get Yates the hatty. Barron could've had one himself in just the last 10 mins with the chances that line generated.

And he came very close! Was there ever a game where we had two hat tricks? Doug Ferguson had six goals against Hamilton (19-0 on 1/13/65), but I don't know if that should count.

I found three occurrences in playoff games through 1986-87 where my record book ends. Doug and Dave (4) Ferguson against BC (3/8/66), Bob Ferguson and Mike Doran against Brown (3/7/67), and Brian Marrett and John Stornik against BU (3/10/79).

It should be noted that Angello, driving hard, drew THREE penalties during this game.... I think, at least one, resulted in a PPG for CU... That doesn't show on the scoresheet but certainly affects the game..

Angello played well as did Vandelaan, they also got very little open ice and mostly had to dig the puck out to create chances. Who knows what the Opp coaches are doing checking wise these days.. I dont even know which line would be our top line as a different group looks solid almost every game..
Coach mentioned Bliss still working hard to come back pre-game as well.. Would be nice if he could get back on the ice even for a limited time, just for more depth.

Doug had his hat in the first period of that ECAC quarterfinal against BC, with the first on the opening shift at 0:14 and the third at 19:56 when he jumped on the ice, grabbed the puck, skated in little circles with it, and zipped it past BC goalie Pat Murphy as the period was about to end. I can still replay all three of Doug's first period goals in my mind. BC had been a preseason favorite featuring the great Cunniff-Dyer-Mullen line, but a series of injuries made them a very dangerous seventh seed after the injuries healed.George64

Murphy and his stunning wife lived down the hall from me in a Waltham apartment circa 1970, and we played his table hockey game with the spinning players turned by metal rods. He was pulled after two with the score 7-0 and a save percentage of 66.7. His replacement had an atypical name for a BC guy in the 60s: Cohen.

It could though. Penalties drawn would be a neat stat.
