With a big win last night and Harvard looming next weekend, this has the trappings of a classic trap game. Let's hope the team is up for this. Go Red!

P.S. Accidentally entered the date as 11/14; should be 11/4. I don't know how or if I can change this.

Agreed, and Princeton improved a lot down the stretch last year and should not be taken lightly.

Whether it's <color>-outs, towel/t-shirt giveaways, pizza bribery for students, requiring a multi-game package purchase, or just jacking up ticket $ for a "premium game," just about every school in the league has tried to neutralize our fan presence.

Maybe Yale being the exception?

Didn't notice much presence last night at Q. Saw quite a few Cornell shirts, hats, etc., but most Cornell cheers seemed to come only from the band. And despite the amount of red, Q fans outnumbered us probably by 5:1 or more.

But then I'm spoiled. I'm used to going to Brown games, where we usually outnumber Brown fans for hockey and match them for lacrosse. cheer

Kaldis scores to make it a 4-3 Cornell deficit. About 11 minutes left in the 2nd. This one has the making of a shootout.

For those with 2 screens and wandering eyes. Gate made it 3-1 over the Deerticks with 0.3 sec left in the second. ESPN3 has the 3rd coming up.

There was a large contingent of Cornell fans in Section 115 and neighboring sections. The local Cornell clubs had sold over 100 tickets, and our corner of the rink was starting "Let's Go Red" chants on a regular basis throughout the game.

happy for the win; annoyed that even though it was on ILN there were no video updates or a final highlight package. were they not recording?

Cornell's first goal, on the power play, was a Thing of Beauty. As I recall it, Beau Starrett muscled possession of the puck along the back boards, passed to Jeff Malott on one side of the net, who passed to Alec McRea top of the circle on the other side, who had a wide-freaking-open lane. Bam, 1-0, less than 2 minutes in.

Be interesting to see who's in goal Friday night vs. Dartmouth. Galajda allowed 3 goals on 9 shots and was replaced by Stewart (1 GA on 14 shots). But everybody said Galajda looked so good the week before vs. UAH, and against Q almost getting the shutout.

It was good to see Cornell hung in there and chipped away at Princeton's 4-2 lead in the second period and tie it up by the end of the period.

The box score reports a 2196-person sell-out. Once again, it was no problem to get standing room tickets and there were plenty of freely available seats. We found an open bloc of about 10 seats 4 and 5 rows up in the corner Cornell attacked first and third period, putting us about 25 feet away from Alec McRea when he unleashed the wide open shot that gave Cornell the first goal 2 minutes in.

I thought Princeton looked way better than QUIN. This team can score. we have made more sniper shots in 4 games than I think we made all of last year, and we seem to get 1-2 pretty goals a game too. I dont know if the goalie was pulled for his play or to boost the team or to not kill his psyche. Of the 3 goals one was just a push into the crease that the goalie and the D both just missed as it slid slowly to a bad spot. one was a complete screen and i forget what the 3rd was.

We are fine in center ice. good at stopping the puck leaving the zone, and we get good cycles often during a game. What killed us Sat was soft clears leading to some good chances by Princeton. Thats as much youth as talent but it needs to get cleaned up.

anytime you are down 2 on the road mid game and come back thats a good sign of a team that competes well and we haven't been behind much this year so good to see it when it happened.

Colgate must have played solid to allow 1 goal this weekend but they allowed almost 50 shots friday night in that shutout so they certainly didnt control the game.

Yeah, but Colgate beat Q 4-1 Saturday night, and the box score suggests this wasn't a fluke or that Colton Point stole the game for them (e.g., 19 blocked shots).

Princeton was handing out free t-shirts before the game to make their "orange-out". And they had a "mites on ice" session between periods, so lots of families. But there were plenty of open seats, as usual.

I don't blame Galajda for the goals he gave up. Princeton was running a real hard forecheck that we couldn't handle. I think our defense was really slow in the first period and much of the second, and got out-hustled. And on their third goal, Princeton set up one man at each post, and our guys couldn't (or didn't) move them. Quadruple screen - Galajda had no chance.

And for the record, one of the guys I was with in section 105 swore that the puck went in on the late Princeton no-goal. But either they judged that the net came off, or the whistle blew, or Stewart was pushed in, or, or, or...

But a win is a win. And Princeton is a pretty good team. They're fast and their passing was really crisp. Hopefully we learned from it.

they spent a huge amount of time in review, considering the goalie ended up in the back and the net was off and the ref ruled no goal and the red light came on, who knows.. i dont think anyone could have possible seen the puck with 5-6 guys in the crease, you never see the puck when the get up so who knows if the goalie had it.. also strange to not see princeton guys jump up arguing it was in like they usually do, no one celebrating like they saw it in, no arms raised or pointing, no fans yelling and pointing like it went it.

I appreciate the Cornell athletic communications department's production of full highlights packages. Some of the other Ivies -- Princeton and Harvard come to mind; can't remember what the situation is for the others -- don't show anything that doesn't illustrate how awesome they are. Princeton can't even be bothered to show the final score of the event in many cases.

I doubt Stewart will let in a short-side goal. whenever the puck gets below the face-off circle, he puts the near-side leg down along the ice and hugs the post. This is probably a high percentage play until we play against a team that moves the puck quickly from side to side.

Good game for Rauter. Did he sit out Friday vs Q? Anybody know why?

My wife and son went representing Cornell. Hardly an Orange-out. SAD!

I'm pretty sure Rauter played at Q. He sat out the second UAH game with some type of minor injury.

Come on guys, that's why they have boxscores. 1 shot and 3-6 on FO is reasonable evidence he played.
