It's too bad but it's over. We didn't get any help yesterday, but of course we didn't help our self during much of the season. I do feel a let down, but have to feel optimistic as I look toward next year. We get the bulk of the team back, and if the new class can be anything like this year's freshmen, then we should be optimistic. I think we showed we could play with and beat any of the teams we played, but unfortunately also showed we could lose to teams that we shouldn't lose to. If I put that to being a young team, I can be hopeful. Certainly I enjoyed this year more than the last couple.
Having said that, I'm tired of not going to LP (as much as I dislike having the tournament there) or to the NCAAs. We were so close this year, that I hope the returning players will work extremely hard over the summer and we can be consistently better next year.
Now I've started getting an inventory of all my memorabilia and get it to CU. I've been saying for 2 years that I would, so I guess it's time.
I was hopeful that I'd go to a regional, and might if Michigan goes to Cincy. But this is probably good bye till next year.
So thanks to everyone who contributes to making following CU hockey fun. If it wasn't for all of you, it wouldn't be the same.
I look forward to next year, and if I had one request, it would be to see more of you traveling to away games. The more the merrier.

Yes, another season laid down in the register.
And, for us the end of a season of Cornell hockey has always held a mildly funereal air; regardless of the outcome.
Oh, we follow all of Cornell's athletics in their myriad incarnations.
But, hockey is something special, and always has been.
Perhaps, it's that odd facility; the James Lynah Rink? That ancient holdout from a simpler time with rock hard benches and the treacherous, concrete stairs.
Maybe, it's the mayhem it inspires? The raucous (and sometimes mildly off-color) student cheers? The band with is frenetic cymbal player and tuba farewells?
Or, is it the colorful Zamboni driver with his flair for the costumed dramatic? The dedicated rink officials tossing handfuls of candy to the Lynah Faithful?
I think it's all of that. But, even more it's the air of camaraderie that these events inspire.
The getting together with people that you've shared a passion with for many seasons, good & bad.
The friendships that develop and endure. And, the fond memories of those who no longer can attend.
Yes, that's what truly makes Cornell hockey different. A least for us.
So, we'll endure the Spring & Summer. We'll dutifully mow the lawn & tend to the garden.
We'll drive to the beach, or the mountains, and cook burgers on the grill.
All of that.
But, in the back of our minds we will recognize that all of this goodness, fun & beauty is just a means of passing the time.
Because, the only thing that really matters is the arrival of Fall, & another season of insanity on ice.
So, someone please give my regards to Davey.
And, best to all until the leaves fly again.
Can you say, "LGR"!?

Did Ladouceur and Kozier both get hurt? I remember Ladouceur tore up his ankle and was never the same, and based on the stats it appears Kozier missed half his sophomore season and never regained his scoring touch either. I just don't remember what happened to him. Bad back, maybe? I vaguely remember a couple of guys with persistent back problems on the team from about 1998 through 2000.

Wow didn't realize Ferlin was second to only Nash in PPG over the past 15 years

I remember him busting up his knee against a Canadian school. Thought it happened two years in a row too.

Google tells me (via the Cornell archives) Ladouceur's injury was definitely an ankle injury during his junior year, probably during an exhibition: [www.cornellbigred.com]
Not sure what Kozier's injury was, but he played almost every game his last two years after missing half the season or more as a sophomore. Maybe he was the one who went down during an exhibition that year.
I wonder how much better those teams would've been without the injuries to those two - they scored a ton when they were both healthy but after the injuries they never put up good point totals.
