The Q thread on USCHO wasn't anticipating good attendance. I think they're planning on Placid. UVM knows how that can work out.

And judging from photos & reports from Lynah, Cornell's attendance numbers for the opening round may have been fudged.

I'm sure the games will be listed as sellouts, since almost every Q game I've gone to has been listed as a sellout, even though most of the time I have seen hundreds of fans disguised as empty seats.

Q is not expecting many of their students to show up, since the seats they gave to the local Cornell Club were in the section where the Q students usually sit. However, most of the fans at Q games are townies, and the fact that Q is on spring break won't influence their attendance. I'm sure the games will be listed as sellouts, since almost every Q game I've gone to has been listed as a sellout, even though most of the time I have seen hundreds of fans disguised as empty seats.

At Quinnipiac, junior forward Tim Clifton knew the down time would pay off in the long run. Especially since the Bobcats (25-2-7), ranked No. 1 in the nation, are facing Cornell (15-9-7), the unofficial No. 1 team in the country in terms of physical size, in a best-of-3 ECAC quarterfinal series at High Point Solutions Arena.

“There’s no stress on the body, which should go a long way with a potential three games against the monsters of Cornell,” Clifton said. “They’re big bodies. A three-game series might take its toll.”

Emotions typically run high between the teams. One of the keys for Quinnipiac will be to find a way to play its aggressive style without taking penalties.

“For us to be good, we have to have emotion, we have to play with pace and we have to play with an edge,” Quinnipiac coach Rand Pecknold said. “We just can’t cross that line into penalties. We also can’t go into the game and only focus on not taking penalties. That’s not going to work either. We have to have an edge. That’s what we’re good at. We push the limit. We just have to find that line and stay right on that line.”

Is there anyone out there who could bring and distribute newspapers? What about a couple of bags of Snickers Minis for the band and more to throw. I'd pay for the Snickers, but not for newspapers.

I figure that maybe if I take it easy today, I could feel well enough to go for #2 & #3, if needed.

Westerners have no clue where eastern states are. Dr. Mrs. still mixes up all the New England states. As far as they're concerned it's like Greek city states -- yeah, you know there are a bunch of them, but they're all tiny and interchangeable and pretty much all of them are irrelevant anyway. You'd be ashamed to feed a New England state to Arizona for more than a snack.

I know this is last minute, but I just called the ticket office. Despite the bleak picture painted online (SRO with just a few individual seats), they are selling tickets in the Q student section because the kids are on break. We were able to get 4 seats together in Section 111.

Anyone watching the Boxcast feed notice how low the announcers' volume is? The background volume is fine, the volume of the eighth grader who sang the national anthem was fine, but as soon as the announcers' feed was turned on the volume was just too low. I have my computer's volume cranked all the way up and the player's volume cranked all the way up, and I'm straining to hear. I informed Boxcast, and at first the rep seemed uninterested, but I managed to convince him to pass the information along. Supposedly.

It's not just me, right?

I don't care that he scored the first goal; I don't care how good he is on face-offs. I'd sit Weidner for taking that asinine penalty and for, generally, being a defensive liability.

In defense of Weidner, the Q player put a lot of embellishment on the play, which took place right in front of me. When Weidner saw he was being called for the penalty, he just shook his head, and the "victimized" Q player grinned. Hillbrich, who knows a lot of the Q players because his older brother had been on the team, skated over and exchanged a few words with the Q player, smiling and shaking his head like he was saying I can't believe you got away with that."
What hurt more than that penalty, was the soft first goal Gillam let in, and the fact that on Q's 2nd and 3rd goals, we let their players get to rebounds.

In 2013 we were one minute from shocking Q and advancing to (Atlantic City, I guess). The middle game was a rout but the other 2 were fantastic efforts.

I know the proper thing to do now is lick our wounds and mope about Schafer, but I'm wondering if we have any shot of slipping in at 15th in the Pairwise if UMD loses their semifinal and consolation game. That miiiiiight just knock them below us in RPI.

We'd need Michigan Tech and Michigan to win their conferences. I don't think UMD losing twice will be enough, though.

Shame that Hockey East has no consolation game. Two losses might knock Northeastern below us.

Disappointing loss, but look, we played a team that only two other teams defeated all year. On the positive side, this is a young team that nobody thought would be as good as the were. Who thought that we would have two wins against #1 teams?
