I found Captain Morgan's in Corning, NY... The bartender, who will also be working tomorrow night promised me a TV for the Cornell-Harvard game... Life is good!!

Anyone know if there is an internet feed for NESN Plus? I checked their website, but it was difficult to tell.

Assuming there isn't one, is the ILDN likely to use the NESN Plus video production, so at least the production quality should be better than usual, even if the transmission is not?

How does a ref blow the whistle on a puck that sitting clearly behind the goalie and has his hands in a position that he could never cover the puck even if he wanted too.

a team that struggles to score and now has had 1 cleared by the D from the goal line and one taken away by a blind ref..

this team used all its brakes up pre christmas it seems.

Really? From the replay I saw (and perhaps I can go back and watch it again and if I do perhaps I'll feel differently) it looked like the puck was under the goalie and Hilbrich poked it in from underneath him.

I'm going to have to go see if I can take a look at it again.

I watched the replay. The goalie was, in fact, laying on the puck.

As much as I'd like to say "We were robbed!", I think that was a pretty standard call. It would have taken a really slow whistle for that goal to have been allowed.

its like they focus on the shot and ignore the other 10 things that happened.. much like the first replay that went harvards way on the clear by the D,, did they watch the replay and notice this missed the clear boarding cross check?

best effort in awhile and no reward. helped teams above them lost though

Are we watching the same play? To me it looked like the puck was at least below the goalie's shoulders--not under his head--and Hilbrich poked it in from under him.

a puck sliding under a prone player does not always warrant control? now if the ref says it he lost sight there is not much you can do, it didnt take much of an effort to put it in and it could easily be under the goalie and with the helmet not even touching the puck. If am a ref I want to make the player at least be in some position to be controlling the puck not just laying there hoping if slides under me. far different when a play is trying to squeeze it under legs or arms and actually control it.

I think the ref must have whistled the play dead because he lost sight of the puck. I took some screen shots that actually show the ref whistling the play dead while the puck was still out in plain view. (The first image.) So it may have been a quick whistle, but on the other hand he may have lost sight of the puck before then.

In the second image, the ref has already stopped blowing the whistle, the puck is now under the goalie's shoulders, and Hilbrich has not yet started to reach under the goalie with his stick.

In the third image, the ref has clearly stopped the play, the puck is still under the goalie's shoulders, and Hilbrich's stick is also under the goalie's shoulders, reaching for the puck.

Good effort, though. It'd have been one of the best games I've seen in-person had Cornell pulled out a win.

Interestingly (or not) there were different refs behind the net on each of those goals. Lynch had the quick whistle on the Hilbrich no-goal. Whittemore never whistled the play dead on the Harvard goal that went in off of Fiegl's skate.

One thing I never understood is if it's a quick whistle, what are they doing reviewing the play? If he said the whistle blew,what could they see on review to change anything?

They didn't review the Hilbrich no-goal. The ref skated right over to Schafer and apparently was telling him that he had whistled the play dead. (Couldn't you hear him? You were sitting right there! )

Sorry guys- I didn't read the thread until just now.

We still had trouble getting the puck out of our zone, and we do this annoying thing on offense, especially on the power play, where we hold on to the puck at the point, think about shooting, and then finally fire a shot into the defender's ankles. I'm not one to yell "shoot" constantly, but we need to be pulling the trigger more quickly or passing up the shot altogether.

But we looked competent, which is nice. Kind of an underwhelming game to watch a replay of until 3:30am, but I did catch a friend of mine in a shot of the stands, so there's that.

As a recent alum I had a great time at the game. I almost felt like I was back at Lynah. Unfortunate that some calls didn't go our way, the Red really had every opportunity to win that game. Since it was on NESN+, will there be a way to watch a full replay of the game? I'm not sure if ILDN can host a full archive of the game if they didn't broadcast it exclusively. I'd really like rewatch certain parts with commentary.

I suggested that they serve Suicide Sandwiches in the concession areas and that the lighting be improved over the players' bench. Reason for the lighting improvement was to better appreciate the shine reflected off Ted's head.

Ugh. Harvard was more successful under Mazz the Rat. Teddy Rogaine's talent-squandering record suits me just fine. It's like Mike Gilligan's DNA moved to Allston.
