Wedman and Shore at D. Nuttle out. Freschi benched for last week's penalties; Anderson up to forward.

Unlike last week, I'm less concerned that Colgate will come back

Some interesting tidbits:

Through 4 2/3 games, Cornell has scored 20 goals. Took twice as many games last year to get to 20 goals.

Last year Cornell scored 57 goals. We're at 35% of last year's total scoring total, and we are not done with our fifth game.

If there's anything I've learned about Cornell hockey, it's not to pre-judge a season by early returns.

good pressure almost all game.. really most the colgate chances came off faceoff plays.

I don't understand. I had assumed I'd never been happy this season.

As did their goal. Just after a 5 on 3 turned into a 5 on 4. I was actually surprised, when Gillam made the glove save with a second remaining on the first penalty that he didn't then skate around a bit, looking like he was trying to play the puck, to run a couple of seconds off the clock. He may not have realized just how close it was to the first penalty ending, but every second of a five on three he could run off would be of value. And play started with 17 seconds to go on that penalty, so he probably could have had a pretty good feel for the fact that the penalty was close to running out, even if he couldn't glance at the clock. I'm convinced that if he had made motions towards playing that puck he would have earned his second shut out of the year, as the faceoff would have been taken 5 on 4 instead of 5 on 3.

Gillam played a great game, and made some huge saves. This isn't intended to be critical of his play. I was just surprised, that's all.

lets hope they come out with the same energy tonight.. colgate played much better in the 3rd. i was surprised at the shot totals as it felt like w had far better chances but only 20 shots? need to to better on the draws, not take dumb penalties and still play physical.. i wonder who colgate brings back at goalie now or are they rotating anyway..

Great hustle!! And the thing that pleased me the most: the discipline!!!

Coach finally convinced them of the value of skating away from a scrum....

We haven't seen enough of that in a long time. Keep it up guys!!

Giving away a three-goal lead against a top-five team by taking penalties was probably a memorable lesson. Sitting Freschi sent a message, too, I'm sure.
