Was next year's field announced for Estero?

If UNO is a home and home, that's 2 games in Omaha next year. Now that would be a strange road trip.

Isn't that over since we opened there (Omaha) last year?

I don't know that it's been officially announced anywhere, and the dates aren't known, but the field is apparently:

Providence, BC, Cornell, Ohio St.

#1 I don't know why it bothers you so much.

#2 This has already been answered to your posting on the other thread.

Why are there two threads with the same title?

because I didn't find the old thread when I posted the Florida tournament dates and pairings yesterday. I assume Age or Beeeej will consolidate the two eventually.

Well, it doesn't really "bother" me. But it is a bit confusing, and two identical threads make it easier to miss something.

Interesting. People were hoping BU would win the NC so we could have the chance to beat the defending NC in MSG. Now we have PC too.

This should be the strongest Florida tournament ever. How'd we get Providence in Game 1? Perhaps Cornell wanted to play Ohio State as the apparent best chance for a Friday win, but BC and Providence balked at a non-conference opener against two Hockey East teams and Cornell assumed until two weeks ago Providence would be the easier opponent? The NCAA power rankings heading into the tournament had BC 11, Providence 15, Cornell 36 <sob>, Ohio State 37.

These teams should help attendance. BC and Ohio State both have lots of retiree/retired-early fans in Florida. I recall Notre Dame drew very well (of the third of the Florida tournament games I've been to) and I thought TOSU did, too. (Penn State probably would in future years.) Maybe it will bring back TV coverage. Does Barry Melrose have clothing suitable for southwest Florida? Don Cherry, probably no.

I did post it here. At least what I knew of it. I'll update it, thanks, but we need to get you some memory pills.:-D Maybe someone from the "administration" can get rid of 2014-15, if only it was that easy, and lock this one in instead.

Something I noticed here. Mercyhurst, fifth place in the AHA, has had 8 seniors sign pro contracts. Maybe the gap between the majors and the AHA is closing.

In my world, the ECACHC is still the ECAC, Minnesota State is still Mankato, North Dakota is still the Sioux, and no corporate branding is to be mentioned in a rink name.

I have a lot of rules...

Either that or I actually had no idea the AHA changed it's name.

You do have a good point about the ECAC vs. ECAC Hockey or whatever.

After this season fans in Troy and Ithaca could use a belt (and likely all the fans in the Big 10 league, conference or snappy logo thing of six teams). drunk

Clarkson is CCT, Lowell is the Chiefs, Alaska is UAF ...

The last year or two, the attention I've paid to college hockey has been less than constant, with the result that I still look at matchups like Minnesota-UMD or SCSU-MTU and think "wait, WCHA teams can't play each other in the first round..."

With BU, Providence and possibly BC, our OOC games will be heavily Hockey East.

Thanks, it only took 6 months for someone to notice that. :) So, is the 11/13-14 weekend for Colgate?

If all of this is true, I like this years openning schedule better than others we've had. Playing Niagara when they've alreay played 7 games, is a lot better than some other years.

The only updates to the schedule posted here that I see are that the exhibition games are vs. Ryerson & Laurentian and they are being played on Saturday/Sunday (Oct 24-25). An extra day of offseason waiting will be rough.

Who's Ryerson & Laurentian?

Am I the only one a little disappointed to see the Colgate series earlier on this year? I know some consider this a "rivalry game" and in that spirit, I prefer this game played at the end of the season when it feels as though more is on the line.

I also think that it's CRITICAL we win 1 if not 2 of the games against Providence and BU. These games towards the beginning of season will largely dictate morale going forward and forecast the rest of the season.

Ryerson & Laurentian are Canadian Universities:

Ryerson University in Toronto
Ryerson Men's Hockey
They were 18-18 last season.

Laurentian University in Barrie and Sudbury
Laurentian Men's Hockey
They were 14-9-3 last season after going 5-23 year before.

'Gate will be good and they will presumably have played more games, so in that regard I don't like it.

Well, they will only play one more game than we have but that includes exhibition games. Disregarding exhibition games, the first game we play against them will be our 5th and their 9th.

I think the thing we should be more worried about is the level they will be playing at. Their initial strength of schedule is no joke - Mercyhurst and Northeastern weren't bad last year, then they play two against RIT (who did well in the NCAA tournament), two games against Providence (the reigning champions), a game against Quinnipiac (consistently been a good team in the recent past), and then what I would call an "easier" game against Princeton before taking us on.

Comparatively, we have what appears to be some easy Canadian teams for exhibition games, then Niagra (who didn't do so well last year), and then similarly Princeton and Quinnipiac. There's no question in my mind they will be playing a much tougher schedule leading up to the game against us and that is what has me concerned the most. Being optimistic, I just hope we get things started off right with the first game being played at Lynah so we can hopefully get a 3-4 point weekend!

Thanks to all who helped keep this up to date. Note that the exhibition games are Sat & Sun, not Fri & Sat. I like this early season schedule. I think that since we start late, having games that allow us to develop is better than jumping into tough games against teams that have already played 2 or 4 games.

I'd like to see us play some tougher Ivies earlier on. Yale/Brown would be a good early weekend.

Any reason in particular? I'm okay playing tougher Ivy teams earlier on, I just feel that we'd want to play some good (non-ECAC) teams before to prepare like Colgate is as I noted above.

Because Ivy rules put us on a level playing field. If we play some good (non-ECAC) teams, we typically have a structural disadvantage in terms of practice time, games played, etc. I'm all for playing tough competition, but we need to have a few games under our belt to be competitive. Good Ivy teams all have similar restrictions, so they're the ideal competition.

Or we could just go to the NCAA schedule rules. The insistence on the smaller number of games is a joke, anyway. It's only there so the Ivies can posture a bit.

Want to be really idealistic? Hold the athletes to the same admission standards as the student body -- not en masse, but individually. And takers? (crickets)

the ivys punish their sports teams for reasons that really make no sense. not letting the fball players play for the title is a joke. they act like the hockey players show up 2-3 weeks later just because they start the season later.

But my point is that since changing the IL rules is very difficult, a certain approach to scheduling would lessen the negative impact of the rules.

Thanks, I had meant the "?" for when we'd play. However it was confusing and putting down your times makes more sense.

After posting I started wondering whether Cornell's time was the real question.
