Rangers backup goalie, Cam Talbot, is "day-to-day" with an undisclosed injury and did not participate in the Rangers' first practice since winning the ECF. David Leneveu practiced instead and will back up Lundqvist if Talbot isn't ready to go by Wednesday.

I hate sites with that business model. "Doug Murray sucked donkey dong in the playoffs this season, but you'll never guess what happened next!"

Hopefully Doug (hello, Sweden) catches on somewhere and Matt winds up where he'll be used on a top line. If the Isles fired all their brass the new regime could bring him back, but obviously the current crop can't admit they fucked up so badly.

A couple of random thoughts:

A) LeNeveu's AP file photo is of him playing for the Phoenix Coyotes and is therefore at least seven years old. They couldn't find one of him playing for the Wolfpack this year?

B) LeNeveu has never played in Trenton (in Princeton a couple of times, true, but not for over 10 years) and never played against the Trenton ECHL team that no longer exists, so why is there an article about him (about as long as the one about Martin St. Louis) by the Trenton local paper's hockey writer? My guess is it's because, as the article itself notes, there wasn't a long wait to interview him like there would've been for better-known players.

Considering the Hartford Courant doesn't bother to send a reporter four city blocks to cover their games, no. Game stories usually are wedged in a couple inches on page 8 of the sports section with the byline: "from team reports." (With the first 7 pages covering UConn Things). I just did a Google image search for "David LeNeveu" and all of the photos of him in a Hartford uniform on the first page of results are from his 2008 stint with the club, as far as I could tell.

Not to mention that the text of this Trentonian article didn't mention the name/location of the Rangers' AHL affiliate in the text of the article, either. But hey, Providence Bruins!

Huh, go figure that there aren't any current pictures of him; surprising given that he played twenty-something games for Hartford this year. On the other hand there is a picture of him in Rangers gear, or the author certainly could've snapped one while speaking to him if they were worried about rights (and with his playoff beard being mentioned in the article).

I mean, if they didn't want to use this awesome picture from his most recent stint in Austria, anyway:

The writer, Mike Ashmore, covers Princeton hockey for the Trentonian and, for ECHL.com, writes pieces on ECHL alumni who have had lengthy NHL careers. This is his kind of story.

Down 0-3 the Rangers have no choice. It's LeNeveu time.

That's not much consolation.

When your team is overrun by band wagoners, be content that they are pouring money in that you can use to continue improving and building. Some sheep are good for wool, but even the useless ones are good for mutton.

Really surprised there was nothing posted here after that point in Game 2 when the trainer had to visit Lundqvist and the camera immediately shot to a closeup of Lenny on the bench. His playoff beard grew quickly, considering he's only been up for this series.

The bandwagoners switched from the Rangers to the Kings.

Or... his other team was in the playoffs? ;-)

Considering I live 3 blocks from where they play, I can tell you that they were not.

It's the system.
