Just thought I'd mention: this is the 101st anniversary year of the first Clarkson vs. Cornell hockey game, played in January of 1923. I meant to say something last year, but forgot! From the January 19th, 1923 Daily Sun. (The game was on the 20th, a 0-0 tie.)

Beautiful goal. I just watched a training video on stick handling and I cannot unsee the techniques now. That was a clinic!

And now Bancroft on a perfect pass!!!

Down 5x3 including a major and Psenicka is kicked out. OK, lads, survive.

I missed the first period. Sounds like I missed a lot of nonsense.

they had 3 angles I dont any of them showed anything. there are no more angles so what did the refs thing they saw for a major.

It’s really unfortunate that challenged reviews can only be used for alleged major penalties, because there’s a lot of situations where a missed call should have been a minor, but the refs are only able to rule it major or nothing.

If they're going to eject Psenicka for the softest brushby contact ever, I can't imagine that they don't do anything for actual significant head contact here

Refs definitely lost control of the game to an extent. Lack of consistency on the head hits

All comes from not handing out matching minors earlier in the game.

Amazing game, good crowd. It was great fun at lynah. Even the tiniest bit of adversity seems to make this team play better than ever and that’s a fantastic trait to have.

O’Leary has been amazing recently. He has drawn a ton of penalties and his forecheck is unreal. He works harder than anybody else on the ice and I’m so glad to see it pay off, no doubt his effort is a great example for the underclassmen too.

But they do nothing. Terrible officiating, it’s no wonder they lost control of the game.

And Western Michigan is winning. We'll likely be back in 15 soon.

We're still 14th! St. Cloud lost.

Western Michigan won on the road against Denver and went all the way up to 10th.

WMU has gone 2-5 and has gotten up to 10th in fact. I guess beating Denver twice does help

Not beating Umass costs us

its also an example of RPI being of more value than anything else.

Look at Prov. 2-3 vs COP we a 3-0-2 but it doesnt matter that the result of 10 games we are better RPI wins out. 5-0 vs 0-5 would not help either..
There should be some weighting on COP once you play a certain number of games if there is no H2H. reward teams something for that because RPI is out of their control in many ways.

This weekend I saw a lot of characteristics consistent with the recipe for success of the Schafer era. This team has shown us their speed and their skill and now they have shown that they have added grind to their game. Friday night it took them a period to get to it but tonight it was there from the start. Every line is committing to it. It was especially nice to see them use it to perfection against two Schafer disciples in Brekke and Jones.

O’Leary has always had the motor but it’s really nice that he has begun to develop the finish. Looking more like Topher Scott all the time.

I do believe that they run an over complicated power play but it is a thing of beauty when they hit on their successive passes like the Bancroft 2-0 goal.

I think it was just bad timing for the Psenicka major to be coupled with the first Stanley minor. I felt like they were playing well enough to kill those off separately.

There were a handful of stretch passes that found their mark tonight but how pretty was that outlet by Bancroft to the spinning Walsh? There have been some high skill goals scored at home this year. Add that one to the pile with the Mack penalty shot and the first two Castagna goals from his hat trick.

That game felt a lot like one of the exhibition games where the opponent just can’t keep up with Cornell in any facet.

I appreciated the student section recognizing O’Brien after he stepped in to defend Seger late. Not sure how often the guy tabbed as the extra skater gets his name chanted. He did a nice job occasionally playing up on the wing filling in for Psenicka.

I really am enjoying their post game celebrations. As long as they promise that nobody will get hurt I love watching them run up the tunnel. It probably should be expected but I feel like these guys really like each other.

On CHN we are 8th in Pairwise Won-Loss %, "the team's winning percentage when factoring that OTs (3-on-3) now only count as 2/3 win and 1/3 loss," and Weighted Won-Loss %, "winning percentage after adjusting for ... Road wins and home losses are weighted by a factor of 1.2, while home wins and road losses are weighted by 0.8."

Thank you Adam, the CHN Primer is excellent!!! banana

Bearlover what should we complain about

I’d like to complain that every time we run up a big lead in a February game I seem to be at dinner in Florida and not watching on TV.

Complain, complain, complain. All you do is look for reasons to complain. Why complain? Awesome game last night—you should be happy!

Thank you - but I will be sad if you're just discovering that now - because I wrote it like 20 years ago (with many updates since - it's a living document) :)
