When was the last time....

...that we had shot totals over 40 for both games of a weekend set? Not sure if anyone could possibly know the answer to that, though as I looked at some old box scores, I saw that last year, we came close twice (36+41 and 38+44).

BTW, a couple years ago, we outshot Waterloo 54-9 in an exhibition game and only won 4-3. Odd, really.

I took for granted that you checked all of last year. Starting from the final game of 2000-01 and working backwards, the most recent instance was the weekend of 2/18-19, 2000. Cornell had 45 shots against Union followed by 61 against RPI. They swept a pair of one goal games, despite scoring only 7 goals on the 106 shots.

Here's another one. When was the last time we chased the starting goalie two nights in a row?

RPI/Union in 2/2000 was at home though.
We opened the season at RPI/Union that year with an ot loss to RPI if I recall.

Prekaski had 58 saves and 3 GA in 59:16 of playing time. RPI actually led 2-0, but Cornell came back with goals by McNiven, Kovac, and Stienstra.

Well, the last time we scored 14 goals in one weekend was November 19-20, 1999, the first 4-point weekend for the current senior class, when we beat St. Lawrence 4-0 and Clarkson 10-4, our last game where we scored double-digits.

As for the last time we chased goalies on consecutive nights, well it was consecutive games not nights and they were exhibition games so maybe 'chasing' isn't the right term but on October 30 and November 2, 1996, in 7-0 and 5-0 victories over the Polish Olympic Team and Waterloo respectively both opposing teams pulled their goalies, though the second Waterloo goalie gave up more goals (3) than the starter did (2). I didn't check that much so their might be a more recent RS example but I think you have to go back further to find a chase on back-to-back nights.

Ahh, the Polish Olympic Team game where the band played the Canadian, American and Polish National Anthems before the game.

The last time Cornell chased the goalie in consecutive games was 1/29/00 against Colgate and 2/4/00 at Harvard. In the second of these games, which Cornell won 6-2, the Crimson's J.R. Prestifilippo allowed five goals by the midpoint of the second period and gave way to Oliver Jonas.

Cornell actually lost the Colgate game 4-2. So how did they "chase" starter Shep Harder, you ask? Well, with 22 seconds left, Harder got in a fight with Andrew McNiven, and both were given DQ penalties. Jason Lefevre finished the game for Colgate.

The last time Cornell sent the starter packing in consecutive games without benefit of a penalty was 2/16/96 at Harvard and 2/17/96 at Brown. The Harvard game saw coach Ronn Tomassoni make the strange decision to give freshman Peter Zakowich his first career start (over Tripp Tracy), a move which backfired when Zakowich allowed three first-period goals and was pulled before the start of the second. (Cornell starter Eddy Skazyk also allowed three first-period goals and was replaced by Jason Elliott) The Big Red won this game 5-4.

The next night, Brown starter Jeff Holowaty had an even worse time, as he headed to the bench six minutes into the game, having given up two goals to the Big Red. Cornell got a 6-4 victory that night. It should be noted that the goalie change initially worked for both opponents, as on both nights Cornell was behind in the second period before rallying for the win.
