A great second half should get Ryan attention for all-ECAC and perhaps even all-American.

Greg Carey at 1.85 points per game is probably the ECAC's only shot at Hobey this year (but Gaudreau will probably win -- factory school bias). I really hope his brother Mike's production disappears after he graduates.

It would appear that BC, Maine and Union are this year's ballot-stuffers.

I like that Cornell (as well as MSU and Union) have action shots instead of generic Usual Suspects mug shots.

Relatedly, Jimmy Vesey is a child.

It's stupid (marketing is always stupid, think of the audience) but the Johnny Hockey Heisman pose is pretty funny.

Factory school bias is a fun thing to complain about and all that, but Gaudreau is almost certainly the best player in the NCAA; don't forget he led the NCAA in scoring last year (as a sophomore) too.

Oh, he's amazing. But (1) fuck the ECAC not ever getting a Hobey except Harvard and (2) FUCK BC.

Colgate's Austin Smith was one of three Hobey finalists in 2012 and later that spring Austin Baum won the Tewaaaraton Trophy for lax. That was pretty good.

Well, yeah. The ECAC should've won the Hobey 11 years ago.

Elliot Olshansky now believes that Joakim Ryan is the ECAC's best shot at a Hobey finalist:

He might be right. Ryan is the dominant defenseman in the conference, having taken Gostisbehere's crown away. We saw Carey's glaring weakness this weekend: he has zero interest in playing any defense. And other than Haggerty who has cooled down there really isn't another serious candidate.

So vote.

Hobey column.

So, let’s start by examining that top 10, current as of this past Tuesday.

1. Ryan Faragher, junior, G, St. Cloud State
2. Shayne Gostisbehere, junior, D, Union
3. Ben Hutton, sophomore, D, Maine
4. Johnny Gaudreau, junior, F, Boston College
5. Adam Wilcox, sophomore, G, Minnesota
6. Ross Mauermann, junior, F, Providence
7. Ryan Haggerty, junior, F, Rensselaer
8. Michael Mersch, senior, F, Wisconsin
9. Trevor van Riemsdyk, junior, D, New Hampshire
10. Dillon Simpson, senior, D, North Dakota

Read more: [www.uscho.com]

We also discussed Gostisbehere last week, and it’s not much of a surprise that he should be here (except that Union fans have been more united behind Gostisbehere than Cornell’s celebrated Lynah Faithful have been behind an equally qualified contender in Joakim Ryan).

So get going.

Sorry, it's just that Cornell alumni have jobs and Union alumni are sitting around Starbucks browsing the Craigslist help wanted listings. :-}

Sorry hate to say it but I've been voting for Ghost. He's just a better player than Joki.

Why? Personally, I dislike stuff-the-box efforts just to show off fandom contests, and writers like Olshansky can stick it. Whatever, anybody can write a script.

Basically, I couldn't say it better than this:

Why? Because it can be fun. But certainly don't do it if you'll be unhappy. And no one ever said it really counted for anything

A complete, internally consistent, practical metaphysics in 25 words.

Not bad, Jim. Not bad at all.
