Ben Scrivens was, unfortunately, on the the wrong side of history last night, as the Abbotsford Heat tied a North American record by scoring two goals on him (both short-handed) in the span of 3 seconds. The second goal was scored off the center ice faceoff that resulted from the first goal:

Damn. Had I known that Barlow was a Bull I would have gone to see them sooner. Went to my first game on Friday.Trotsky
Evan Barlow is a hot commodity.
The best parts were that they sell cowbells for use as noisemakers and the cheerleader-like ice crew is called the Cowbelles. A natural marketing fit.

In case anyone else is wondering, as I was, why the name of Barlow's teammate David Marshall rings a bell, he was one of the top scorers in the ECAC for Quinnipiac in 2008-09.Trotsky

Was he there in 06-07? I'm pretty sure I accused a Marshall on Quinnipiac of medalling in Women's Diving during the postseason that year. Which, in retrospect, sounds fairly misogynistic. Man, being a grad student in English takes the fun outta everything.

Keep with it, the kneejerk stuff stops being taken seriously* after about 1998, and by the 4th wave your joke is funny again, at least to hockey fans.Dafatone

(* granted, most of your professors got their degrees before 1998 and will still be laying down the Orthodoxy. Be gentle with them; they have not long to go.)

I'd still be throwing out the same comment if I were at a game today. Dude was diving like whoa. But I might feel slightly bad about it after.

Dude was diving like whoa.
I misread that as "Dude was diving like a whoa" at first, with the last word being a phonetic spelling of a Boston accent. That would be stepping up the misogyny a bit!

Posting a link to a meme generator with 28 not-clever captions thus far doesn't answer my question, you know...
Besides, it's the second wavers who are the humorless ones; we third-wavers can't decide what we believe. This fourth wave business isn't exactly a thing yet. Get your stereotypes straight, Jesus.
Anyway, here's one that's better: [memegenerator.net].
