Thanks for posting; I hadn't seen it.
After watching about 8 times, it sure looks to me like the ref's whistle hand comes up to his mouth while the last few hacks at the puck are still going on before Dias's and McCarron's arms are raised. Sure seems like that action is intent to me. May I even suggest that the whistle was originally blown then too? The roar crescendo of the crowd tends to drown other things out pretty easily in that building. The whistle people heard after the puck went in may have been a second, more forceful one.

he had whistle ready to go. he blows it just before he starts waiving his arms.. maybe he meant to blow it earlier but not sure why he didnt start waiving if off earlier if that was his intent.

Seeing it live from Section F, I'm pretty sure I heard a whistle before it went in, and remember thinking immediately that the early whistle was why they waved it off.
