"Seed of Doubt," college hockey story on Yale's No. 1 overall seed in playoffs, mentions Cornell-Yale ECAC title game, has game photo (Page 34 of 3/28/11 print edition). Writer Sarah Kwak notes Yale only played 6 ranked opponents all season and went 4-2. She adds, "Also weighing heavily against Yale is that is a member of the East Coast Athletic Conference [sic] - EZAC, as it's know derisively in some hockey circles - which last produced a national champion in 1989." It mentions that Union won the most games of any ECAC team "but encouraged the conference's doubters by falling to last-place Colgate."

Also in SI, 2 pages on the NCAA wrestling tournament, pages 28-29, that focuses on the upstart eastern team that won the championship. Cornell gets a one-line mention.

Yeah not a good weekend for Cornell to say the least.

Yeah not a good weekend for Cornell to say the least.
It was a terrible weekend. Our wrestling team finished second in the nation, our women's hockey team lost in the Frozen Four and our men's hockey team advanced to the ECAC championship game, where it was trounced. Too bad our lacrosse team had to spoil everything by winning a road game against an undefeated Yale team.
For an Ivy League team without athletic scholarships, competing mostly against teams that give out athletic scholarships, I don't think our weekend was that terrible, even if we didn't get much ink in SI.

Almost as bad as a year ago when the hockey team and basketball team both lost in the NCAA Round of 16 and the week before or after the women's hockey team and wrestling team had to settle for second place. Including 2009 lax, we do have too many NCAA seconds and not enough firsts, and it's still pretty darn impressive. Oh, and I haven't heard anyone at Brown or Quinnipiac or Harvard complain how poorly run their hockey season ticket lines are.

I'm from Philly, so excuse me if I'm a little sick of close but not there. Only once in my life has my team done more than be close.

Yes, and here's hoping that was a once in a lifetime occurrence, sort of like the Rangers winning the Cup. ;-)

Well,if you're from Philly, maybe praying would help. Or, when you say "team," is this a metaphor for an orgasm?
